Google Doodle Celebrates 46th Anniversary of Star Trek

After four consecutive interactive London Olympics Doodles, Google has come up with another one today to mark the 46th anniversary of Star Trek: The Original Series.

The interactive Doodle depicts the characters of cult science fiction television series, which was aired on NBC in US from September 8, 1966 to June 3, 1969. These characters also make up for the letters of the Google logo and visitors can take part in a small interactive take, which involves no score.

The letter 'G' in the logo is Mr Spock, the most memorable character. The first 'O' plays the character of Nyota Uhura while the second 'O' is James T Kirk, the commanding officer of the USS Enterprise. The letter 'L' resembles Hikaru Sulu.

The Doodle opens the bridge of the Starship Enterprise and then the second 'O' and the 'E' lead the red door to the transporter room and the transporter beams them to a planet where all of them face a challenging alien.

After defeating the enemy, they can return to the Enterprise. However, it will not happen on it own and the visitors have to click all throughout the Doodle to start the action.

The instrumental theme from Star Trek by Alexander Courage keeps playing in the background. The Doodle ends in the classic style with the USS Enterprise zipping through the stars and the Google letters appear in yellow.
