Project Loon: Google Launches Balloons Around The World To Give Internet Connectivity To All
Google is now working on an initiative that will provide internet connectivity to locations that have limited or no access. The Internet giant has started releasing 30 hi-tech balloons that will provide Wi-Fi internet connectivity to people as they travel. They have been designed to travel around the world three times. The balloons start their journey from from New Zealand's South Island under the project named Project Loon.

How can the internet connection be accessed?
Users will require a special internet antenna, attached to their building, which will allow them to connect to the balloon network. "The signal bounces from balloon to balloon, then to global internet back on Earth," explained Google.
For how long?
So the Balloons will go around the world delivering Wi-Fi to remote areas using some souped-up technology that's been built into them. They have the capacity to stay to stay in the air for 100 days. Pam Desrochers said that the time limit offered by these balloons go beyond the capability of most weather balloons that travel at the same stratospheric heights that, according to Cnet.
What are they made of?
Desrochers explained that the balloon material is rubber-band like. Each individual unit will require 500 square meters of the material. She also went on to add that since the balloons will be exposed to extreme temperatures, both hot and cold, the materials used to make them must be exceptionally hard.
They will also have to be resistant to things like ultra-violet radiation and inclement weather, as it could lead to some serious damage and leaks.
