Animation Course in India: How AAFT Noida Builds Careers in VFX, Gaming & 3D Design

By Staff
Animation Course: AAFT Noida's Career Launchpad

Noida, India — If you are searching for an animation course in India that leads to an actual job and not just a certificate, the more useful question to ask is where the work is. India's animation, VFX and gaming industries are all hiring at the same time, and each one rewards a slightly different set of skills. AAFT Noida has built its degree programmes around those three demand areas, so students train for the roles studios are filling right now.

The animation and VFX industry in India is producing more content than at any point in its history. Film, OTT, advertising, gaming studios and product companies are all commissioning animated and visual work, and the number of trained artists leaving colleges has not kept pace. That gap is exactly what a well-structured 3D animation course is meant to close.

AAFT Noida runs its animation, gaming and VFX course in India through its School of Animation, on the AAFT Noida campus in Noida Film City. Admissions for the 2026 batch are now open. Every programme is built around hands-on production in four in-house studios, not classroom software training alone.

Why Animation, VFX and Gaming Are Strong Careers in 2026

India's animation industry is no longer about children's cartoons alone. Indian VFX studios work on international film and OTT productions. Gaming studios are hiring 3D artists, level designers and gameplay programmers in large numbers as mobile, PC, console and esports all grow together. Advertising agencies use motion graphics and 3D design across every kind of brand campaign. A student who trains today in a strong animation and VFX course is entering one of the highest-demand creative and technical fields in the country's media economy.

The highest package reported from AAFT Noida's animation programmes is 14 LPA, and the wider hiring network spans studios, production houses and gaming companies across India and abroad.

The wider industry data backs this up. A few figures worth knowing:

● India's animation and VFX sector is projected to grow from about US$1.3 billion to US$2.2 billion by 2026 (FICCI-EY, IBEF).

● The AVGC-XR sector — animation, VFX, gaming, comics and extended reality makes up close to 20% of India's media and entertainment industry (CII-GT report).

● The sector is expected to create over 160,000 new jobs a year, heading toward roughly 2 million (20 lakh) new jobs by 2030 (CII-GT report).

● India's online gaming user base crossed 488 million in 2024, and gaming jobs are set to rise from about 100,000 in 2023 to around 250,000 by 2025 (FICCI-EY).

Which Animation Career Path Is Right for You VFX, Gaming or 3D?

It helps to see animation not as a single subject but as three connected career tracks. AAFT Noida's degrees feed all three, so students can point their training at the kind of studio they actually want to join.

Which Animation or Gaming Degree Should You Choose?

AAFT Noida focuses on full undergraduate and postgraduate degrees rather than short courses, so graduates leave with a recognised qualification and a portfolio. Where Do Animation Students Train?

Training at AAFT Noida happens inside four dedicated in-house production studios, not general computer labs: Epic Frame Studio for 3D animation, Aura FX Studio for VFX film production, Ink Flow Studio for 2D animation, and Nexus AI Studio for AI-integrated film production. Through the 100-Hour Studio Experience, students from every year work in these studios like a live production team. They take an idea from concept to final cut against a real schedule.

The toolchain is what studios actually use: Autodesk Maya, Blender, Unreal Engine, Unity, ZBrush, Nuke, 3ds Max, Houdini and Substance Painter. Students learn these to a professional standard, so they are ready for a real production floor on day one.

How Is AI Built Into the Animation Course?

Studios now use AI at every stage of the pipeline, so the curriculum is built for that reality. Students do not just hear about AI. They learn where it fits in real production work, and they practise it inside Nexus AI Studio, the dedicated AI film production studio on campus.

Students train across a five-stage AI-assisted pipeline:

Ideate — scripts, prompts, moodboards and concept directions.

Visualise — storyboards, cinematic frames and pre-visualisation.

Create — characters, environments, 3D assets and textures.

Animate — motion, voice, sound, VFX and real-time output.

Build Portfolio — studio-style projects and final reels.

The AI toolkit is specific. Students explore Midjourney for concept art and style, Runway for AI video and VFX ideation, Meshy AI for 3D assets, Kling AI for image-to-video, ElevenLabs for voice and narration, Suno for music, and Claude for script and story planning. This sits next to the traditional craft, not in place of it. Students still master Maya, Blender, Unreal Engine, ZBrush and the rest. The difference is that they leave knowing where AI fits in a real pipeline, which is what studios now ask new hires about.

Faculty Who Have Built These Careers

The Industry Dean of the School of Animation is Charuvi P. Agrawal, a filmmaker and digital artist known for the critically acclaimed Shri Hanuman Chalisa and for co-creating Legend of Hanuman on Disney+ Hotstar. Her mentorship gives students masterclasses, portfolio reviews and access to industry pathways.

The academic team is led by Mr. Ashish Garg, Dean, School of Animation, an educator and technology specialist with over 25 years of experience across animation, VFX, game design, real-time 3D and immersive media.

Mr. Gopal Krishna, Head of Department, brings over 20 years of experience across production houses, gaming, UI/UX and digital design, and leads the department's day-to-day teaching.

They are supported by faculty who have worked at the level students are aiming for:

Neeraj Kumar — VFX artist with credits on Avengers: Endgame, Star Wars and Captain Marvel.

Srishty Aggarwal — nine years in gaming across AAA titles including Elden Ring, Alan Wake II and Kingdom Hearts 3.

Shubham Mittal — worked with Rockstar Games and Sumo Digital on Red Dead Redemption 2 and Grand Theft Auto 6.

For students comparing animation colleges in Delhi NCR, teaching of this kind is difficult to match.

In Their Own Words

Akshay Marwah, CEO, AAFT Noida, said: “India's animation, VFX and gaming studios need trained professionals, and they need them now. The industry is growing faster than colleges are producing qualified graduates. Our degrees are built around that reality. What has also changed is how studios work day to day. Real-time engines and AI-assisted tools are part of the pipeline at every stage now, and students who understand where they fit have a genuine advantage the moment they walk into a studio. Our students train across four dedicated in-house studios, learn on the same tools professionals use, and leave with real portfolios and real connections. That is what gets them hired.”

Placements and Industry Connect

With 2,800+ hiring partners, AAFT Noida has a track record of placing animation graduates in roles that match the skills they built. Recent placements include Harsh Sharma at YRF Studios, Akshay Karwasara at Industrial Light and Magic, Rita Kumari at Meta Bharath, and Vishal Singh at ABP Network. Alumni work at studios and networks including Walt Disney, Sony, Adloid, Digitoons, Rajshri and iTV Network.

The institution's 37,000+ alumni network spans studios, production houses, gaming companies and content agencies across India and internationally. Admissions Open for 2026
