In addition to the latest Apple iPhone 15 series, Apple Inc. launched the second-generation flagship smartwatch Apple Watch Ultra 2 with an even brighter display and extended battery life.

The Apple Watch Ultra 2 gets the same new Apple S9 SoC and innovative Double Tap as well as pinch gestures. It also packs the new UWB chip for enhanced and finer location tracking.

Watch Ultra 2 sports the new and improved modular Ultra watch face that quickly displays users with the most amount of info. It is able to display more information by better utilizing the outer edge of the display. The built-in ambient light sensor can automatically activate the Night mode.

The Apple Watch Ultra is available in 49mm chassis that houses the 1.92-inch LTPO OLED display which is now able to go up to 3,000 nits of peak brightness.

The Apple Watch Ultra 2 has several new band colors for the Alpine Loop (Blue, Indigo, Olive), Trail Loop (Orange/Beige, Green/Gray, Blue/Black), and Ocean Band (Blue, Orange).

Navigation: Double Tap and pinch gestures allow users to use their thumb and index finger to operate the Apple Watch 9 series smartwatches. They work by monitoring changes in blood flow and wrist movement via the accelerometer and gyroscope sensors. Double Tap allows users to play/pause music, snooze alarms, scroll through widgets, and receive or end calls.

Users can open the Settings app on their Apple Watch Ultra 2 and tap on Accessibility > AssistiveTouch > Hand Gestures. Users can then select from four options: Clench, Double Clench, Pinch, Double Pinch, and customize the actions that will be performed when using these gestures.

The Apple Watch Ultra 2 boots the latest WatchOS 10, which offers new features and compatibility with cycling peripherals such as power meter pedals (via Bluetooth).
