itel recently announced a budget 4G smartphone dubbed the itel S24 in India. Let's find out if buying the 4G-enabled phone in the 5G era makes sense.

Despite being a budget-centric phone, itel did not compromise with design. The ultra-slim body and colour-changing back panel give it a stylish look. Moreover, the phone is slim and light and arrives in Dawn White and Starry Black shades.

The itel S24 has a 6.6-inch HD+ LCD screen with a 90Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 480 nits, delivering a good content consumption experience. However, the competitors offer better displays with a higher resolution or refresh rate.

The itel S24 runs the older Android 13 OS with the company's custom itel OS 13.5 skin on top, which is a drawback. Moreover, the brand did not promise anything regarding software updates.

The phone is powered by the MediaTek Helio G91 SoC paired with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of onboard storage, up to 8GB of which can be utilized as virtual RAM. The chip is capable of handling daily tasks without issue, although it isn’t ideal for gaming.

The highlight of the itel S24 is its 108MP Samsung HM6 ISOCELL sensor that comes with an f/1.6 aperture and EIS support, promising clear images. The main lens is paired with a QVGA depth sensor. For selfies, there is an 8MP selfie shooter.

The phone also packs a 5,000 mAh battery, which can get you through an entire day and supports 18W fast charging. The itel S24 comes with the Dynamic Bar feature, which displays notifications like battery status and incoming call alerts.
