Google celebrates Srinivasa Ramanujan 125th Birthday with Mathematical Equation Doodle
Today Google is celebrating the legacy and life of Srinivasa Ramanujan, an Indian mathematician who made extraordinary contributions to mathematical analysis, number theory, infinite series and continued fractions with almost no formal training in pure mathematics.
The doodle depicts a small boy drawing mathematical equations in the sand and it looks like his friends are looking at his drawings but looks like they are more interested in playing games and sport.
Srinivasa Ramanujan was born on December 22, 1887 in Erode, Madras Presidency India and passed away on the 26 April 1920 at the age of 32 in Chetput, Madras, Madras Presidency, India.
Prior to his last few months in India, he lived for five years in Cambridge, England, and produced some of the most breathtaking mathematical results in collaboration with one of England's then most eminent mathematicians, Professor G. H. Hardy.
During his short lifetime he developed nearly 3900 Mathematics Results which mostly consisted of identities and equations, most of his Mathematics results and claims have been proven correct, and considering this was mostly done in isolation makes it even more remarkable.
In December 2011, in recognition of his contribution to mathematics, the Government of India declared that Srinivasa Ramanujan's birthday should be celebrated every year as National Mathematics Day.
