Latest Google Doodle Tribute Highlights Winter Olympics 2014
Today Google has used a sporty collage of figures playing various sports as a doodle on its homepage. The software giant's latest doodle, which appeared after a long time, appears today to celebrate the commencement of the 22nd Olympic Winter Games, which is taking place in Sochi, Russia. The particular doodle uses a retro-theme, which Google must have taken from the design of the Sochi Games' website, where each sport is represented by a different color and illustration.
One of the major international multi-sport event is officially scheduled for 7 February through 23 February 2014. The opening rounds in the figure incorporated in the doodle are skating, skiing, and snowboard competitions which were held on the eve of the Opening Ceremony, 6 February 2014.

The doodle this time also is accompanied by a quote from the Olympic Charter rejecting discrimination. The quote is place beneath the search box, and it reads, "The practice of sport is a human right. Every individual must have the possibility of practicing sport, without discrimination of any kind and in the Olympic spirit, which requires mutual understanding with a spirit of friendship, solidarity and fair play."

However, despite the the positive message, there has been much controversy wrapping Russia's human rights' record, since Sochi won the bid to host the Winter Olympics. In particular concerns have been raised about the treatment of the country's gay community. While Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Kozak reportedly said that there was no discrimination based on sexual orientation in Russia.
