Instagram To Compete With TikTok With New Reels Feature
Instagram is working on a new lip-syncing feature called Reels. Instagram Reels aims to take on the popular video app TikTok. Since its launch, Instagram has been evolving with varied ideas borrowed from other social media platforms like Snapchat. The Instagram Reels feature is currently available in Brazil only.
Instagram Reels: What Is It?
The Instagram Reels can be accessed within the app, within the Instagram camera app, users can spot the new Reels feature, right next to the Boomerang and Super-Zoom camera modes. The Reels feature will open to a short 15-second music clip, taken from various distribution houses and indie performers.
The Instagram Reels feature can be used to make lip-syncing videos to put it up as Stories or can be broadcasted to others. The saved Reels file can even be posted in Highlights or sent to others individually. The Reels clipping can also be shared on Public Feed; in such cases, the Reels video will be spotted only in the Reels station. Instagram is reportedly combining the Discover Feed with the Reels station, which will be similar to the IGTV videos that appear on the app.

Instagram Reels To Compete With TikTok
Instagram is quite well-known for imbibing various features from rival social media. Instagram Reels will certainly compete with the popular TikTok app. With Reels, the company is taking on TikTok's idea and is apparently making it more modular. Today, Instagram is a popular platform for target advertisements with influencers popularising trends. The Reels feature is aimed to enhance the platform.
The new feature coming from Facebook now is a surprise as the company is already flooded with various anti-trust issues and stringent market practices. Facebook had named TikTok as one of the social media rivals when asked to defend its dominant market position.
At the same time, TikTok is facing its own issues in the US market. TikTok, owned by Chinese company Bytedance, has been alleged of sharing data and information with the Chinese government. However, TikTok has denied the allegations. The global rollout of the Instagram Reels has still not been announced yet.
