Aakash 2: DataWind Confirms 100,000 Tablets Have Been Shipped On Board
DataWind has announced that it has completed 1 lakh Aakash and is all set to be delivered to IIT-Bombay. The device has been delivered with 12 months warranty and accessories at Rs 2,263. the device is sold commercially as the UbiSlate 7Ci at Rs 5,000. Datawind also announced that it has completed deliveries of its pre-paid back log.

''The Aakash 2 tablets, the world's lowest cost computing access device, have been delivered to IIT-Bombay with 12 months warranty and accessories at Rs 2,263... It's competitive tablets are available in Indian market for around Rs 5,000,'' the company said in an statement. However, the commercial tablet has been spotted on the company website having the price tag Rs. 3,999.
Aakash 2 Specifications
Aakash 2, the tablet will sport a 7 inch multi-touch capacitive touchscreen display with 800 x 480 pixel resolution, 1GHz ARM Cortex A8 processor, 512MB RAM, 4GB internal storage, front facing VGA camera, Wi-Fi connectivity and 3,000 mAh Li-ion battery reportedly claimed to be delivering 3 hours of normal operation. Moreover, Aakash 2 will run on Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich OS.
IIT-Bombay's open source lab has developed variety of applications for the Aakash 2 tablet like 3-D modeling applications, C++ programming tools, distance learning and live assessment tools. Therefore engineering students can greatly benefit from it.
