Acer C720 and HP Chromebook 14: Google Chromebooks Launched in India With Airtel Free Dongle Offers
In a latest development, two of the Google Chromebooks have hit the Indian boundaries. Yes, this includes the new Acer C720 Chromebook line that features processors based on the Haswell micro-architecture for faster performance and also offers up to 8.5 hours of battery life.
Also, HP has also announced its Chromebook 14 in India. But HP Chromebook will be released in the market later on October 17.
Acer C720 Chromebook And HP Chromebook 14 - Key Specifications
Display and Dimension
The new Acer C720 has a design that is more than 30 percent thinner than its predecessor, measuring only 1.9 cms (0.75 inches) thick. It includes a full-sized keyboard. The device weighs only 1.25 kg. Acer C720 comes in a 11.6 inches ComfyView HD display offering a resolution of 1366x768. The display is also accompanied by a matte, anti-glare property, enabling users to work outside in sunlight.
On the other hand, the HP Chromebook 14 features a 14-inch WLED BrightView display with the resolution of 1366x768pixels.
OS, Processor and RAM
The Acer Chromebook is powered by an Intel Celeron 2955U processor based on the Intel Haswell micro-architecture, so it delivers a noticeable boost in both performance and battery life. On top of that it also features a 2GB of DDR3 RAM. The battery keeps consumers productive for up to 8.5 hours. Moreover, the company claims that the device boots up in less than 7 seconds and resumes nearly instantly from sleep mode.
The HP Chromebook will be powered by an Intel Celeron 2955U processor based on Haswell micro-architecture and will also be supported by 4GB of RAM. Both laptops run on Google's Chrome operating system.
Camera
The Acer C720 also comes with an integrated HD webcam and also features a microphone for video chatting. There is a dual speaker design which ensures crisp and clear stereo audio for enjoying music, video and more. Sadly, there is no information pertaing to the camera of the HP Chromebook 14.
Connectivity
The Acer C720 comes with connectivity options like hotspots and wireless networks via 802.11a/b/g/n WiFi. Apart from that it includes USB 3.0, USB 2.0 port, HDMI port.
While the HP Chromebook features Wi-Fi, an HDMI port, memory card slot, USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 port.
Storage
The Acer C720 comes with and internal storages of 16GB SSD. Other media and files can also be accessed through the SD card reader.
The HP Chromebook comes with a 16GB SSD storage. Both the devices will come with an additional 100 GB of free storage on Google Drive.
Security Features
The latest Acer C720 Chromebook runs on Chrome OS which will be updated automatically. On top of that multiple layers of security features including data encryption and verified boot defend the Acer C720 Chromebook against online threats, malwares and viruses.
The Acer C720 Chromebook also keeps data safe when the device is used by multiple users. Users can have separate accounts to ensure their project, Gmail and other information is kept safe if the Chromebook is lost or stolen. Acer C720 Chromebooks have a Kensington lock to secure them to a classroom or mobile cart.
Pricing and Availability
The Acer C720 is available at Croma and Reliance Digital stores in Mumbai and Delhi. Consumers across the country can also purchase the Acer C720 online from Flipkart. The Acer C720 is available at a retail price of only Rs. 22,999 in India and is also bundled with a 2 year warranty.
HP Chromebook 14 will be available from select Reliance Digital and Croma stores in Delhi and Mumbai from October 17 at Rs. 26,990. You can also pre-order it from Flipkart today.
Offers On Chromebook
Since both these devices run on Cloud centric OS, they will be bundled with offers from Airtel. The Airtel 4G dongle which was initially priced at Rs. 2,499 would come at just Rs 1,500 with monthly 10 GB data for 2 months for these two devices. Customers can also choose a free Airtel 3G dongle worth Rs. 1,299 along with monthly 6 GB data for 3 months instead of the 4G dongle.
Further, the 4G offer will be available only in selected cities like Bangalore, Kolkata, Pune, Chandigarh, Panchkula and Mohali. Interestingly, users will have to continue with the Rs. 999/month offer plan for 6 months if you wish to choose the 4G dongle.
