    According to KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the Cupertino-based tech giant may unveil the iPad Air 2 with "significant specs upgrades", such as a full-lamination touch panel, a new gold-colored casing, the A8 processor, and a Touch ID fingerprint scanner.

    Furthermore, it is expected that the iPad Air 2 will come with the same design and form factor of their predecessors. In case of the iPad Mini 3, the mini tablet device may get a Touch ID scanner, but its screen size will remain the same at 7.9-inches. Both the forthcoming tablets will run on the latest iOS 8.

    Kuo predicts that Apple will launch the upcoming tablets on October 14. So far Apple hasn't teased updated tablet devices just yet. However, recent speculations have given potential users a somewhat vivid picture of what they can expect of the iPad Air 2/ iPad Mini 3.

    As always, a powerful processor can enhance the graphical capability of the device. The new iPhones are powered by the A8 chipset with 64-bit architecture that promises improved performance. It is most likely that the A8 chipset would power the upcoming tablet devices.

    Apple has always been a front runner in the tech industry. This particular year, Apple surprisingly increased the screen size of the iPhone 6. So there's a chance to see an extra large screen iPads. Notably, rumors in the past have claimed that Apple would launch a 12-inch tablet, dubbed the iPad Pro, to take on the Microsoft Surface Pro 3.

    Last year, Apple added a Touch ID fingerprint scanner on the iPhone 5S. With the Touch ID scanner has been massively improved all over the past months, Apple will likely to introduce the Touch ID fingerprint scanner in the upcoming tablet range.
