Apple's New iPads: 5 Rival Tablets That Might Take a Hit
Several reports have reaffirmed that Apple will be launching its next generation of iPads at an event planned for Tuesday. Even though multiple product launches are expected on the big day, the focus will be centered around the company's upcoming tablets. The first being the smaller iPad Mini 2, which will feature retina-quality display. And then comes the iPad 5, which is the larger, more wholesome slate among the two.
The demand for tablets has exploded over the last year, with the sleek and slim devices eating heavily into PC sales worldwide. Consumers have started preferring these slates over personal computers, thereby causing manufacturers to focus a bulk of their energy into making these devices. Even Microsoft, one of the biggest endorsers of the personal computers, have now shifted their focus towards tablets like the Surface 2 Pro and Surface 2 RT.
Consumers are constantly looking for a tablet that has enough power to allow them to perform most of their digital functions. This includes a good deal of office productivity, web browsing, multimedia consumption and much more. The iPads, give their high quality hardware and powerful specifications, have served as one of the best devices for the purpose. Microsoft's Surface tablets were designed with that very same goal last year, but the tablets failed to find takers in 2012, with the company registering around $900 million in losses owing to unsold Surface Tablets.
Up until now, Apple has managed to hold the largest share of the world's tablet market, with 32 percent, according to IDC. To sum it up, things are getting heated in the tablet market, and the competition is getting more and more intense. Gizbot has picked a lit of devices that will compete against Apple's upcoming iPads. Go through the slider below for more information.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 3
While it has become a proffered choice owing to its in-built calling feature, the Galaxy Tab's feature set isn't anything special. Its screen can't hold a candle next to Apple's stunning iPad displays, thereby allowing it to deliver a somewhat lackluster experience.
Microsoft 2 Surface Pro
Barely a month old, this new slate from Microsoft has been receiving mixed reviews. It allows you a wholesome desktop experience on a slate and happens to be quite a workhorse. Microsoft has essentially packed a solid personal computer into a tablet form factor. Plus there's some good battery life owing to the new and efficient Hasswell processors inside the slate. The device will be one of the biggest competitors to the new iPads.
LG G Pad 8.3
Another tablet that touts an excellent display happens to be LG's G Pad 8.3. Aimed at competing against the next generation iPad Mini, this tablet offers an 8-inch screen size, thereby making it compact and easy to hold.
Amazon Kindle Fire HD
Amazon offers low-priced tablets with the hope that users buy heap loads of content from its store. The company's Kindle Fire HD costs much lesser than the iPad and offers some solid performance. It uses peppy hardware, some nice components for Audio and is one of the sweetest deals out there if you're looking for a tablet.
Nexus 7 (2013)
While the Nexus 7 2013 edition has been selling in international markets for a while now, it is yet to come to India. But since e-commerce sites have begun cutting its prices heavily, there is a lot of speculation that the tablets will be hitting the Indian market sometime soon. The slate will be the iPad's biggest competitor since it has a super high quality display that Apple's own retina displays. Apart form this, it is being offered at a much friendlier price and ports some sold specifications.
