Google's New 7-Inch Tablet Said To Have Advanced 3D Imaging Capability
By this time you would have already forgotten Project Tango that Google had been working on. However, a recent news that has surfaced online pertaining to the same unfinished project from Google, suggests that the search engine giant is still working on it. This is the same project, where Google is putting its utmost effort to build an Android device with an advanced visual processor known as Myriad 1.
Basically, the technology uses sensors to take in details of the device's surroundings, including depth and objects, to create a three-dimensional map of the world around it. The tablet is reportedly said to be the part of Google's Project Tango, which is supervised by Google's Advanced Technology and Projects group.
But according to Wall Street Journal, Google has a new tablet in the works that incorporates advanced vision capabilities that can capture more precise three-dimensional images of objects. Thus, we are talking about a tablet device instead of a smartphone here.

The device which uses highly-innovative imaging technology is reportedly said to sport a 7-inch display. According to WSJ's unidentified sources, the tablet will come with a two rear-facing cameras, infrared depth sensors, and advanced imaging software. Reportedly, the sources further revealed saying that Google will begin manufacturing the tablet next month, producing 4,000 prototype slates.

Google's Johnny Lee, the head of the Tango Project team, in a blog post during Tango's announcement earlier this year, reportedly said, "We are physical beings that live in a 3D world." He further added, "Yet our mobile devices assume that physical world ends at the boundaries of the screen. The goal of Project Tango is to give mobile devices a human-scale understanding of space and motion."
According to a number of the tech blogs, this Project Tango tablet could be possible showcased ahead of Google I/O 2014, which is slated to take place on June 25 and June 26.
