Google+ Photos App Released For Chromebook Pixel
Google has released Google+ photos app for Chromebooks as promised. The app which is basically a Chrome extension which automatically imports photos from an SD card and uploads them to Google+. Once uploaded, the app automatically spotlights the photos that it finds to be the best among the rest. Also, once the photos are uploaded, you will have the option to make them public or not.
The app is currently only available for Chromebook Pixel, but Google has said that it is working bringing it to other Chromebooks as well.
Sundar Pichai head of Chrome, Google Apps and Android spoke about the Google+ photos app during launch of Chromebook Pixel laptop back in February. He said " You plug in an SD card or connect the camera. It opens your photos in full resolution and starts backing them up against your 1 terabyte Google Drive quota. There's nothing to mess with. We immediately choose, de-dupe [get rid of duplicates], and take out the blurry pictures. If there are six pictures of kids smiling, we choose the best one or two. It shows the best ones that have been selected in the gallery. It packages them up as album immediately for you to share in Google+."
Chromebook Pixel has still not arrived to India and there is no information on whether it will be made available or not. Anyways, lets have a quick look at the specifications of the Laptop.
Chromebook Pixel features a 12.85 inch display with a resolution of 2560 x 1700 pixels, 239 ppi pixel density and Gorilla Glass protection, 1.8GHz Intel Core i5 dual core processor, Intel HD Graphics 4000, 4GB RAM, 32GB/64GB internal storage, 720p front camera and a 59 Wh battery offering up to 5 hours of backup.
Further, the notebook comes with dual band Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, 4G LTE (in certain regions), 2 USB 2.0 ports, a mini-display port and a 2-in-1 card reader supporting SD, MMC cards.
On purchasing an Chromebook Pixel, users will get a 1 terabyte free Google Drive storage for three years.
