HCL has recently launched its new tablet in India and it is aimed at catering to the needs of the children. The tablet is called ME Champ and comes with a regular 7 inch standard display. The tablet is available on Snapdeal at the price of Rs. 7,399. Just a day ago, Swipe Telecom also released a similar 7 inch tablet called Swipe Junior in the Indian market at Rs. 5,990.

Moreover, this tablet, as the name suggest, is also aimed towards the kids section. Thus both HCL ME Champ and Swipe Junior tablets will compete against each other in the Indian tablet market. Moreover, this proves to be another target of the manufactures to target the children now.

Since both these devices come with similar specs and are aimed at the kids, it allows us to compare these devices. Have a look at the comparative rundown on specs of these two tablets.

Display

Both HCL ME Champ and Swipe Junior come with a 7-inch multi-touch display. However, the resolution varies between the two. HCL ME Champ comes with a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels while the Swipe Champ features HD resolution rated at 1024x600 pixels.

OS, Processor and RAM

HCL ME Champ houses a substantial 8GB internal storage capacity which can be expanded up to 32GB using microSD card while, Swipe Junior comes with a smaller internal storage capacity of 4GB with the same 32 GB expandable via microSD card.

Battery

Swipe Junior draws its energy from a 3000 mAh battery while HCL ME Champ come powered by a little better 3100mAh Li-Polymer battery.

Features

HCL Me Champ comes with a lot of pre-loaded content for kids like exercise in Math, Science, Geography, History, Art and Language. The tablet also includes interactive books, TV Mornings Cartoons app, Creativity app to create books by adding voice recordings, pictures and texts. It also comes with collection of music and music videos. Other pre-loaded apps include, Hungama, Opera mini, Kingsoft Office, Navigate and more.

On the other hand, the Swipe Junior also comes with preloaded educational apps. Another added feature in this tablet is the "Usage Track Report" that gives charts and information about the usage pattern on a minute-to-minute basis. The Swipe Junior also features a casing of protective shock-proof coating, which will resist the occasional tumble.

Both tablets comes with a feature called the parental lock that allows parents to restrict apps and the amount of time the kids can use the tablet.

Conclusion

After looking the specs and features of both the tablets, one can easily say that HCL ME Champ is a better tablet. But again if one looks from the price perspective, for kids, Swipe Junior would also make a lot of sense. HCL ME Champ comes with better features and to talk about specs, it has higher screen resolution, better RAM, more internal storage capacity when compared to the Swipe Junior tablet. Thus without putting oneself in a dilemma, consumers can choose HCL ME Champ for their kids. However, if the there is a bit of a problem with the price of the device one can also go for a cheaper Swipe Junior, which is not a bad device either as far as it is used by kids.
