IdeaPad Yoga Convertible: Lenovo Prepping Android Version of the Hybrid Tablet PC
Speculations are speedily spinning in the tech media world that Lenovo is planning to expand its Yoga family with the launch of a new ARM or Intel based laptop/tablet convertible running on Android OS in the first half of 2013.
According to a DigiTimes report, the industry sources have revealed that Lenovo plans to dish out its devices in the Android tablet section. This coincides with Intel's commitment to launch tablets, running on Android OS, in association with Lenovo.
Well, if Lenovo launches the rumored convertible this year, it will be a valuable addition to the range, however, right now it is unclear how exactly the Android-based device will be different from the Windows 8 running convertibles. The design might not be having many differences but doubts linger as to the CPU, whether it is ARM-based or Intel-based.
Lenovo had initially planned to release a Medfield-based tablet based on Android IOS, which was codenamed mfld-dv10, sometime during the third quarter of 2012. Sources revealed that the company delayed it because of the continuous inflow of Windows 8 or RT tablets and iPads and a plethora of Android-run tablets into the market.
As far as rumored specs of the upcoming Yoga device is concerned, the tablet is expected to be something similar to the IdeaPad Yoga 11S which is an ultraportable Windows RT notebook with a dual display that allows it to fold into multiple positions- converting into a tablet form-factor. It has an 11.6-inch multi touch display with a 1366 x 768 resolution, packed with Nvidia's Tegra 3 processor, 32GB of internal storage and expandable up to 64GB via microSD card, and more.
