Jolla Tablet With 7.85-inch Display, Sailfish OS Announced

Finally, Jolla has launched its new Sailfish OS based tablet dubbed Jolla Tablet. The Jolla Tablet is priced at $189 (Approx. Rs. 11,690) for the first 1000 Indiegogo backers and $199 for the next 1000. It is expected to ship in May 2015. It is available in European countries, Norway, Switzerland, United States, India, China, Hong Kong and Russia. The campaign runs till December 9, 2014. It has already raised about 50% of the Goal amount of $380,000.

The Finnish company is however running a crowd funding campaign to produce the tablet. The company says, "At the moment it's just a dream but we want to make it a reality." The company is running the campaign on Indiegogo and has a target of $380,000. Notably, Jolla, at the time of writing, has already raised $269,334 in the first few hours.

Jolla Tablet: Key Specifications

The Jolla Tablet comes with a 7.85-inch display offering a resolution of 2048 × 1536 pixels that translates to 330 ppi. It is powered by a 1.8 GHz quad-core Intel Atom processor coupled with 2G RAM and runs on Jolla Sailfish OS v2.0.

The tablet houses 32GB of internal storage, which is expandable up to 32GB via microSD card. The latest tablet features a 5MP rear camera with a 1080p video recording feature and a 2MP front-facing snapper.

The tablet which measures 203×137x 8.3mm and weighs 384 grams also uses WiFi 802.11/b/g/n Dual Band, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS connectivity options.

The Jolla Tablet comes powered by a 4300 mAh battery. The company compares the new Jolla Tablet against the likes of some high-end tablets such as the Google Nexus 9, Apple iPad mini 3, and the Nokia N1.
