According to current market research, it has been concluded that tablets running on Android operating system account for over four in every ten devices shipped to consumers. Further, Strategy Analytics group recently claimed that Android market share has increased from 29.1% market share in Q3 2011 to 41.3% in the same period 2012.
Reportedly, the main reason for the increase in the Android tablet market share is due to the launch of Google Nexus 7, Amazon Kindle Fire and a slew of other tablets introduced by numerous manufacturers across the globe.
Moreover, adding to the same, software giant Google has launched the Samsung made Nexus 10 in October and hence, Android market share could face more uphills in Q4 as well.
With the launch of Android Jelly Bean in Nexus 7, the local vendors in India have also come up with tablets based on the OS. Going on the same lines, Karbonn has recently come up with a Jelly Bean based 10 inch tablet at Rs 10,490.
As the Nexus 10, which was released into the other markets across the globe in mid-November is still awaiting its Indian release, it is a welcome for the Karbonn offering.
Not only Karbonn, but other India based vendors have also starting coming up with Jelly Bean tablets at budget price points. Some of them follow the strategy of launching Android 4.0 ICS tablets and then rolling out the Jelly Bean upgrade to the same.
