Lenovo S5000: 7 Inch Quad Core Tablet Announced at IFA 2013

Chinese major Lenovo has announced Nexus 7 competitor in the form of S5000. The 7-inch entry level tablet is said to be the most lightest at 246 grams. The Lenovo S5000 tablet is competing with likes of Nexus 7, Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 SM-T211 and Asus FonePad 7.

With new launch up announced at the ongoing IFA tech show in Berlin, it is clear that Lenovo is equally passionate about "connected devices ". Lenovo says the S5000 is mobile, stylish and always connected. The company stated that Lenovo S5000 will be available in Q4 2013.

We hope India is in the list of countries, where Lenovo will announce all major devices announced at the IFA 2013. Let's have a look at the detailed specifications of Lenovo S5000, a budget tablet announced to take on Samsung Galaxy Tab 3.

Display and Design

The Lenovo S5000 is actually slim at 7.9mm and weighs at 246 grams. It is even lighter than newly launched Nexus 7 and Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 SM-T211 . The tablet device comes with a 7-inch display having resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels. The Nexus 7 boasts off Full HD display, whereas S5000 packs HD resolution. The tablet looks appealing and sturdy. The final verdict comes when the device gets official in the Indian market.

Processor, RAM and OS

The Lenovo S5000 comes with a 1.2GHz quad-core processor (MediaTek 8389) coupled with 1GB and 16GB of ROM. It is not clear whether the device is expandable via a microSD card or not. The performance should be satisfactory considering it packs quad-core processor alongside 1GB of RAM. Android 4.2 Jelly Bean comes out of the box. We were hoping to see v4.3 Jelly Bean. Moreover, the skin on the top of Jelly Bean is designed by Lenovo.

Camera

Consumers can use the S5000 tablet to take memorable pictures. As per the official press release, the device comes with a 5.0-mega pixel rear facing camera and a 1.6-mega pixel front facing shooter. You can also record videos using front and back cameras.

On-the-go USB port

With On-the-go USB port feature, you can charge your nearby gadgets (mostly smart devices). It's a handy option for travelers.

Battery

The S5000 comes fitted with a 3450mAh Li Ion battery. Lenovo claims that the tablet can run up to eight hours using Wi-Fi connection.

Connectivity options

The Lenovo S5000 comes in two options: Wi-Fi and 3G. The 16GB version (Wi-Fi) will retail for € 199 (Rs. 17,381) or € 249 (Rs. 21,748) for 3G packed version. We'll soon update you India release date of Lenovo S5000.
