Samsung Galaxy Tab A Plus and Tab A specs surface online
Samsung is currently working on multiple new tablet lineups, both in the Galaxy Tab and Galaxy Note series, as we exclusively revealed last month. Today, we have information on the specs of two new tablets - the Galaxy Tab A and the Galaxy Tab A Plus. While being mid-range tablets, the latter is notable for being the first Samsung tablet that's not a part of the Note series but will come with an S Pen, or at least that is what our sources have told us. The recently launched Galaxy Tab Active also has a stylus., but that is dubbed C Pen and is more basic than the S Pen.
Both the Galaxy Tab A and Galaxy Tab A Plus will come in two sizes: 8-inch and 9.7-inch. The smaller model of the Galaxy Tab A will have the same specs as the smaller Galaxy Tab A Plus, as will the 9.7-inch versions of the two, with the only difference between the Tab A and Tab A Plus being the inclusion of an S Pen on the latter and more RAM (2GB on the Galaxy Tab A Plus vs. 1.5GB on the Tab A).

The 8-inch Galaxy Tab A and Tab A Plus will feature a quad-core Snapdragon 410 processor clocked at 1.2GHz, a display resolution of 1024×768 pixels (giving the screens a 4:3 aspect ratio like Apple's iPads, a feature we had revealed earlier), 5-megapixel and 2-megapixel rear and front cameras, 16GB of internal storage, and 4,200 mAh batteries. The 9.7-inch variants will share most of those specs with only a few differences - they will come with larger batteries (6,000 mAh), and a 1.2GHz Qualcomm APQ8016 processor.

All these tablets will be pretty thin at 7.4 mm (suggesting Samsung is making slim profiles an important focus for its upcoming devices), and will come in both LTE and Wi-Fi variants. Overall, these specs are pretty much par for the course for mid-range devices, but the Korean manufacturer is certainly making some interesting moves, like putting the S Pen on a Galaxy Tab tablet, and that too a mid-range one. It is no doubt one of the methods the company is hoping will help it differentiate its products, though it remains to be seen if the Galaxy Tab A and Tab A Plus offer anything truly extraordinary over existing Galaxy Tab lineups.
