Simmtronics X-Pad X-1010 Launched at Rs 8,499: Panic Time for 5 Sizzling Android Tablets in India
Whoa! The new week seems to bring all good for the Indian tablet market as the cheapest 10 inch Android tablet has made its way into the market. Simmtronics, a native tablet vendor a launched Android 4.0 ICS based X-Pad X1010 at a price of Rs 8,499 in India. The company has forayed into the tablet market in December 2012 with its first Android tablet - X-Pad X-720.
Since 2011, tablets have become a popular device in the Indian market ripping the consumers away from desktops and laptops. A research firm ABI Research has predicted that the tablet usage will increase in 2013 and will account to about 145 million tablets will be shipped over the year.
The latest entrant that has triggered the competition in the India tablet market space - X-Pad X-1010 comes with a 10.1 inch multi-touch capacitive touchscreen display with a resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels, 1.2GHz Cortex A8 processor, dual core Mali 400 GPU, Android 4.0 ICS OS, 0.3MP front camera, 8GB internal storage, 1GB RAM, micro SD card slot, Wi-Fi, HDMI, 3G via dongle, micro USB port for OTG and Host and a 5,600 mAh battery delivering up to 150 hours backup.
In order to acquire market share, Simmtronics has tied up with Ozone for free Wi-Fi at over 5,000 locations across the country allowing consumers to access free WiFi in stores including McDonald, Subway, Café Coffee Day, Manchester United, Nirulas, Cocoberry and more.
Also, the company has collaborated with Stick Cricket offering the free Stick Circket game preloaded in all the X-Pad tablets allowing the uses to play it will any player across the world online.
The India based tech firm has priced its offering at Rs 8,499 making it the cheapest 10 inch tablet out in the preoccupied market segment. It can be purchased from all the leading e-commerce websites across the nation.
Though the Simmtronics offering is the cheapest, it does not mean that the Indian market does not have any other budget tablets. Several companies have come up with even Android 4.1 Jelly Bean tablets in the similar price points. India based vendors including Videcon and Karbonn are two such companies who have Jelly Bean tablets in the sub Rs 11,000 price range. When it comes to Android 4.0 ICS, of course there are a plethora of offerings.

Spice Stellar Pad Mi-1010
Spice launched Stellar Pad Mi-1010 with a 10.1 inch capacitive display with a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels, 1.5GHz dual core processor, 1GB RAM, 8GB onboard storage, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, micro SD card slot supporting up to 32GB additional storage, 3MP rear camera, VGA front camera, HDMI, micro USB, 3G via dongle, Wi-Fi and a 7,600 mAh battery.
Stellar Pad Mi-1010 priced at Rs 12,999 may have to be scared for the launch of X-Pad X-1010 as the device is priced too low, however, the former has a rear camera, better battery and improved processor spec.
Videocon VT-10
Videocon has also forayed into the tablet market by launching its first tablet with a 10 inch display and Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system. The tablet dubbed as VT-10 has now been released into the Indian market at a price of Rs 10,999.
Videocon VT-10 flaunts a 10.1 inch IPS display with a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels, 1.5GHz dual core processor, 1GB RAM, 8GB onboard storage, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, micro SD card slot supporting up to 32GB additional storage, 2MP front and rear cameras, HDMI, micro USB, 3G via dongle, Wi-Fi and a 6,800 mAh battery.
With an IPS display, enhanced battery and improved camera, the Videocon tablet might be a better option, but when it comes to price, the Simmtronics tablet would be the first choice.
Karbonn Smart Tab 10 Cosmic
Karbonn came up with Cosmic Smart Tab 10 in December 2012 - a 10 inch tablet running on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS.
Smart Tab 10 Cosmic features 9.7 inch capacitive touchscreen display with 1024 x 768 pixel resolution, 1.5GHz dual core processor, 1GB RAM, micro SD card slot for additional storage support up to 32GB, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, 2MP rear camera, VGA front camera for video calling, Wi-Fi, USB port, HDMI port, 3G via dongle and 6,000 mAh battery of undisclosed backup.
On the pricing front, Smart Tab 10 Cosmic is priced at Rs 10,280, which is again significantly higher than the Simmtronics X-1010 tablet.
Zync Z1000
Zync Z1000 has a 9.7-inch 5-point multi-touch capacitive HD display with 1024 x 768 pixel resolution. This device can access the internet via 3G as well as Wi-Fi networks.
Powered by a 1.5GHz processor, Zync Z100 runs on an ARM Cortex A8 processor coupled with 1GB RAM. The tablet has a front and rear camera of 0.3MP and 2.0MP resolution, respectively, and comes with 8GB onboard memory, which is expandable up to 32GB via micro SD card. The other features include 7,000mAh battery, mini HDMI and micro USB ports.
The 9.7 inch Zync tablet is based on Android 4.0 ICS platform, however, the company has claimed that the device is upgradeable to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. Bearing a price of Rs 11,000, is relatively priced higher than the X-Pad X-1010 priced at Rs 8,499. however, it comes with a rear camera and a better battery.
Zyphr Tablet
Bangalore based Zyphr has launched a 9.7 inch tablet with Android 4.0 ICS OS, 1.2GHz Cortex A8 processor, 9.7 inch 5 point multi-touch display with 1024 x 768 pixel resolution, 8GB internal storage, micro SD card slot, 1GB RAM, 2MP rear camera, VGA front camera, HDMI, Wi-Fi, mini USB and a 3,200 mAh battery.
With a price tag of Rs 11,999, the Zyphr tablet might be costlier than Simmtronics X-Pad X-1010, but it comes with a primary camera. However, the cheaper Simmtronics tablet has a better battery.
Speaking on the occasion Indrajit Sabharwal, Managing Director, Simmtronics said, "In our strategy to reach out to our audience with most innovative products, we are launching X-1010 which features big screen with smoother performance.This tablet PC enables you to make work very smooth. It also supports USB dongles to surf internet on a 3G speed. Its10.1 inch widescreen elegantly displays large format magazines and apps and let people to use it either vertically or horizontally."
