Early this month, Videocon forayed into the tablet market in India by launching its first tablet with a 10 inch display - VT-10. Now, the consumer electronics manufacturer has released another tablet understanding the demands of the consumers.

The latest offering - VT71 is an Android ICS tablet with a 7 inch display priced at Rs 4,799. Moreover, the tablet comes with a free HDMI and OTG cables, which makes it interesting. Also, the device is preloaded with applications including Nexgtv, Saavn, Facebook, Nimbuzz, TOI and more.

Measuring 12.5 mm in thickness and 181 grams in weight, VT71 sports a 7 inch capacitive multi-touch display with a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels, 1.2GHz Rockchip RK2918 processor, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS, 0.3MP front camera for video calling, 512MB RAM, 4GB internal storage, micro SD card slot supporting up to 32GB additional storage, 3G via dongle, Wi-Fi, micro USB 2.0, USB OTG support, HDMI out and a 3,200 mAh battery.

With the ever rising demand in the low cost tablet space in India, several companies like Micromax, Spice, Karbonn, Lava and more have started launching tablets with an eye to become the dominator. eTab Z7H comes with a 7 inch LCD multi-touch capacitive touchscreen display with a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels, 1GHz Cortex A8 processor, Android 4.0 ICS operating system, 4GB internal storage, 512MB RAM, micro SD card slot supporting up to 32GB additional storage, 0.3MP front camera, Wi-Fi, 3G via dongle, micro USB 2.0 and a 2,800 mAh battery.

With a Rs 5,499 price tag, the Lava tablet could be a potential rival to the VT71 with a better battery and processor.

FunTab All New features a 7 inch capacitive touchscreen display with 800 x 480 pixel resolution, Android 4.0.3 ICS platform, 1GHz processor, 0.3P front camera, 512MB RAM, 4GB onoboard storage expandable to 32GB with micro SD card slot, 3G and Wi-Fi connectivity features.

Priced at Rs 3,999, the GoTech offering can be considered a stiff competitor to Videocon VT71 with slightly better specs.

The tablet comes with a 7 inch capacitive touchscreen display with a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels, 1GHz processor, Android 4.0 ICS, 4GB internal storage, 512MB RAM, micro SD card slot, Wi-Fi, 2MP rear camera, 0.3MP front camera, 3G via dongle, Wi-Fi and a 2,800 mAh battery.

With a price of Rs 4,600 and with similar specifications as the Videocon VT71, the Simmtronics offering can be a cautioning rival to the latter.

Edge Infotel has come up with an Android ICS tablet in India dubbed as E501G with 3D support in order to take over the other budget tablet offerings by the India based vendors.

As far as specs are concerned, the device packs a 7 inch capacitive touchscreen display with high quality 3D graphic support, 1.2GHz processor, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS, VGA front camera for video calling, 4GB internal storage, 512MB RAM, micro SD card slot supporting up to 32GB expandable storage, Wi-Fi, micro USB 2.0, 3G via dongle and a 3,000 mAh battery of undisclosed backup.

Priced at Rs 5,499, Edge E501G with 3D graphic support could be a tough challenger of VT71, which costs lesser.

Talking about specs of HCL Me V1 7, the tablet boast 7 inch WVGA capacitive touchscreen with resolution of 800 x 480 pixels, running on Android OS 4.0.4 ICS and powered 1 GHz Cortex A8 CPU processor. It has proximity and G-Sensor enabled and Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, 3G data connectivity through USB data card. Further, the tablet is equipped with GPRS and EDGE for faster browsing.

Priced at Rs 7,789, the tablet supports built in Voice calling feature along with 2G SIM slot. Hence, it can be a competitor to the low priced Videocon offering.
