Acer Chromebook Tab 10 with Chrome OS launched; Specs, features and price
Google says it is the ‘first education tablet made for Chrome OS.
Acer today announced the launch of the Chromebook Tab 10, the first tablet to run Google Chrome OS. Targeted at school students, Google says it is the 'first education tablet made for Chrome OS, and gives schools the easy management and shareability of Chromebook laptops.' The tablet comes with Wacom EMR stylus as well as Google Expedition AR.
As far as specifications are concerned, the Acer Chromebook Tab 10 is fitted with a 9.7-inch IPS LCD touch display that delivers a QXGA resolution of 2,048×1,536 pixels and pixel density of 264ppi. Under the hood, the tablet is powered by an OP1 (Rockchip) processor that comprises of two ARM Cortex-A72 core and four Cortex-A53 cores.
The device has 4GB of RAM and 32GB of inbuilt storage. The Chromebook Tab 10 is equipped with a 5MP rear camera and a 2MP front camera.
The tablet packs a 34Wh battery which as per the company can last up to 9 hours on a single charge. Connectivity features onboard include 802.11ac (2×2 MIMO), Bluetooth 4.1, and a USB 3.1 Type-C port. The device measures 172.2×238.2×9.98 mm and it weighs just 550 grams.
The Wacom EMR stylus that comes along with the Acer Chromebook Tab 10 can be used for interacting with apps, sketching, and taking notes. It can be placed in the chassis dock for secure storage. The tablet will also get ARCore support for immersive learning experience.
The Chromebook Tab 10 will go on sale in the US in April with a starting price tag of $329 (roughly Rs. 21,321). However, the tablet will be available starting at €329 (roughly Rs. 26,545) in Europe, Africa, and the Middle East.

The new Acer Chromebook Tab 10 encourages students to discover new ways of understanding the world around them," said James Lin, General Manager, Commercial & Detachable Notebooks, IT Products Business at Acer while commenting on the launch.
