Reliance is finally prepping up to launch its high speed Broadband service across the country. Dubbed the Reliance Jio, the 4G LTE network connectivity aimed to revolutionise the Indian telecom market was originally scheduled to launch in February this year.
The launch however go delayed due to certain technical issue and now it appears that Mukesh Ambani led Reliance India is finally prepared for the rollout. According to a recent report, Reliance Jio shops across the country has received the first lot of Jio SIMs and is waiting for a nod from official quarters to start registering users for the same.

With the Jio launch round the corner, GizBot decided to take a look at what Reliance Jio has to offer and how it can change the market dynamics in the telecom space in India.

Reliance Jio soft launched their 4G LTE services back in December last year with usage solely restricted to the staffs of Reliance India Pvt. Ltd. It was at that event when Mukesh Ambani had announced their plans to official unveil it commercially in February 2016. He had also announced that the services of Jio will be provided for free to their staffs only till the commercial launch of the product.

Jio apparently holds the largest number of Spectrum bands in the country. Reliance makes of us of 2300Mhz spectrum alongside 800MHz spectrum in 10 circles and 1800MHz in 6 circles. If reports are to be believed Reliance has made a total investment of nearly Rs 1, 50,000 crores for acquiring so far. On the other hand competitors of Reliance Jio namely Airtel and Idea use 2300MHz and 1800Mhz spectrum for deploying its services in India.

Reliance Jio is said to have laid more than 2.5 lakh kilometers of Fibre Optics cable across India. This includes coverage in 18,000 cities and 1, 00,000 villages. According to Mukesh Ambani, Reliance Jio aims to achieve 70% coverage at time of commercial launch and bump it up to an ambitious 90% coverage by 2017.

Credit Suisse, a brokerage firm behind Reliance Jip reported to have use Jio's services and were quite happy with what it has to offer. The officials from the firm who tested out the services claim to have experience peak speeds of 70Mbps while the average speed on the move was in between 15-30Mbps. Well, this blazing fast! In fact if the commercial services of Jio end up offering such speeds, it might end up peeping the market leader Airtel whose services provides an average speed of 10-15Mbps.

Reliance is prepping for a commercial soft launch by the end of April. Reports suggest that the company will be providing Jio SIM cards its uses for just Rs 200. Well, it might sound a bit costly, but wait this price isn't just for your SIM. Instead Reliance is tipped to be providing 75GB of free data and 4500mins of calls for a period of 3 months posts activating their service. The pricing strategy of the company beyond this 3 month period is however not know yet.
