Reliance Announces Jio – Netflix Prepaid 4G | 5G Plans: Are These Subscriptions Good?
Reliance Jio has announced multiple new subscriptions for its Jio 4G | True 5G mobile service users that will offer complimentary access to Netflix streaming services. These are claimed to be the world's first prepaid mobile plans with a free Netflix subscription.
Postpaid subscribers to Jio's telecom service, as well as Jio Fiber wired home/office broadband service users, have access to plans that include a Netflix subscription. Let's look at the new Jio prepaid plans and ascertain if smartphone users are better off getting a dedicated Netflix subscription.

Two New Jio Prepaid Plans With Netflix Subscriptions Launched With Different Streaming Quality
India's leading telecom and broadband internet service provider Reliance Jio has introduced two new prepaid recharge plans with a free Netflix subscription. Subscribers also get other inherent benefits such as unlimited voice and 5G data with up to 1Gbps speed.
Jio is offering two plans, priced at ₹1,099 and ₹1,499. Both plans get unlimited 5G data as part of the Jio Welcome offer. Although a Netflix subscription is bundled with each of the plans, the level of access and the quality of the content being streamed is different.

The Jio prepaid plan, priced at ₹1,099 gets subscribers unlimited voice calling and 2GB of daily data with a validity of 84 days. The Netflix subscription bundled with this subscription is called "Netflix Mobile".
The Jio prepaid plan, priced at ₹1,499 gets subscribers unlimited voice calling and 3GB of daily data with a validity of 84 days. The Netflix subscription bundled with this subscription is called "Netflix Basic".
Should Smartphone Users Get The New Jio Prepaid Plans With Free Netflix Subscription?
Jio claims it is the first telecom operator globally to offer free Netflix with prepaid plans. This is undoubtedly an achievement as the majority of subscriptions that include access to Netflix are postpaid.
Incidentally, Jio already offers complimentary access to Netflix streaming services with its Jio Postpaid Plus and JioFiber plans. Hence, it is important to check if the newly introduced Jio prepaid plans are a good alternative.
The Netflix Mobile Plan, when purchased individually in India, costs ₹149 per month. It offers content in 480p resolution, which is sufficient to watch shows on smartphones and tablets.
The Netflix Basic subscription costs ₹199 per month in India. It offers content in 720p resolution, which is adequate to watch shows on small to medium-sized TVs, computers, smartphones, and tablets.
Subscribers opting for the Netflix Mobile ₹149 plan are restricted to a single device on a single account. However, the Netflix Basic plan relaxes this limit by allowing access to the service on a few more devices.
With a validity of 84 days, access to unlimited 4G and 5G data, as well as a Netflix subscription, both the Jio prepaid plans are attractive. Users who watch Netflix only on their smartphone or tablet can consider the ₹1,099 plan.
However, for users who wish to enjoy content on their TVs, in addition to small-screen devices, the Jio ₹1,499 plan seems like a better option. Such subscribers will merely need to sign in to Netflix on their TV or computer using the registered Jio mobile number and start watching their favorite content.
