10 lakh Aircel customers opted for Vodafone
Telecom Regulatory Authority of India has directed Aircel to provide the customers with Unique Portability Code (UPC) to ease out the porting process.
India's second largest telecom operator Vodafone today said it has received over 10 lakh Aircel customers who have opted to use its network.
Murali, Business Head, Tamil Nadu Circle, Vodafone India, said, "Vodafone offers customers a choice of value-added plans catering to different usage patterns, with best in class customer service experience. Over the past year, we have significantly ramped up our network in Tamil Nadu, by adding a tower every hour. "
He said, "This has helped us be the preferred telecom network for one million Aircel customers and the numbers are growing. Customers can walk into over 600 Vodafone stores and Mini stores across Tamil Nadu which are open all seven days of the week to serve and assist them. Now stay confidently connected at pocket-friendly tariff plans, with Vodafone SuperNetTM."
The telco said that "10 lakh Aircel customers have ported to Vodafone so far. Vodafone has kept all retail touch points operational seven days a week to help consumers with their requirement."
To recall, State-run telecom operator BSNL said over one lakh customers of Aircel have registered under the mobile number portability facility to join the network.
Aircel has recently filed for bankruptcy and prepares to shut down its services in India.
Intense competition following the disruptive entry of a new player, legal and regulatory challenges, high level of unsustainable debt and increased losses had together caused significant 'negative business and reputational impact' on the company
Aircel," the telco said.
In fact, Telecom Regulatory Authority of India has directed Aircel to provide the customers with Unique Portability Code (UPC) to ease out the porting process. The UPC will be valid until April 15, 2018. The Aircel customers can get the UPC code generated via three methods - SMS, IVR call, and customer care center.
Here's what you should do to port your number from Aircel to Vodafone
1. Generate MNP code by sending PORT to 1900.
2. Submit this MNP code along with Aadhar number at the nearest Vodafone store or Vodafone retailer
