Airtel may join hands with Netflix to offer free access to its content: Reports
Airtel TV’s portfolio of 300 plus LIVE TV channels includes offerings across GEC, Movies, News and Infotainment genres from the stables of Zee, Sony, NDTV, Gemini, Sun TV and others.
With an aim to expand its TV app's offering, India's largest telecom service provider Bharti Airtel is reportedly in talks with popular video streaming service provider Netflix to provide free access of its content to Airtel TV App users, PTI reported.
According to a report "Both are in advanced talks for an exclusive tie-up to offer Netflix content to Airtel mobile customers. Several rounds of discussions have been completed between the two companies and the deal could be announced in the coming weeks."
However, Airtel has declined to comment on the same.
Currently, Airtel TV has partnerships with Eros Now, SonyLIV, HOOQ, Hotstar, and ALTBalaji.
Airtel TV's portfolio of 300 plus LIVE TV channels includes offerings across GEC, Movies, News and Infotainment genres from the stables of Zee, Sony, NDTV, Gemini, Sun TV and others.
Further, users can choose from over 6000 Hollywood and Bollywood blockbusters, Indian Regional films plus a host of Indian and International TV shows.
The app now offers content in 15 languages - English, Hindi, Punjabi, Bengali, Gujarati, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Bhojpuri, Assamese, Odia, French and Urdu.
To recall, Airtel has announced its strategic partnership with Hotstar to bring exciting digital content.
With this partnership, Airtel TV now has access to one of the largest and most exciting digital content portfolios in India, with 350 plus LIVE TV channels and close to 10,000 popular movies and shows from India and abroad. Airtel has forged partnerships with all leading broadcasters and production houses to bring the best of content on a single platform and offer a compelling experience to customers.
The Hotstar catalog that is available to Airtel TV users includes movies and shows even in regional languages such as Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Tamil, and Telugu. Hotstar, that is the largest premium streaming platform in India, holds over 100,000 hours of drama and movies, and coverage of all the major international sporting events in its portfolio.
The company has also announced its partnership with ALTBalaji, a wholly owned subsidiary of Balaji Telefilms, to bring exciting digital content from ALT Balaji's portfolio to Airtel TV app users.
