Airtel Rs. 98 plan now offers 5GB of data without daily cap for 28 days
Airtel has updated it Rs. 98 plan to provide customers with higher data benefits.
There is a stiff competition in the telecom space and service providers seem to be battling out with each other by introducing new tariffs as well as updating their existing plans. Reliance Jio has been the major player to disrupt the market. However, other telecom operators are pushing hard to counter the incumbent telco's plans and prevent their users from switching over.
Amidst such scenario, Airtel, one of the major telecom operators in the country, has been updating its plans to provide customers with similar data and calling benefits as Jio. The company has already introduced a lot of plans and it seems that it is ready to take on anything that Jio brings.
Having said that, Airtel has now updated its Rs. 98 recharge pack. Prepaid customers will now be getting 5GB of 4G/ 3G data for 28 days. The pack does not come with any bundled calls or free SMSes though. Currently, this Airtel pack has been announced in select circles like Andhra Pradesh and Telangana as per Airtel's website.
To break down the offer for you, Airtel Rs. 98 recharge pack offers data at Rs. 20 per GB. This further translates to approx. Rs. 5 per 1GB of data. This is relatively very cheap compared to other Airtel's existing plans. Interestingly, the Rs. 98 plan has no daily data cap meaning users can spend the entire 5GB data limit in a single day. Users who consume a lot of Internet content should benefit from this plan.
Talking about Jio's plan, at Rs. 98, the company offers 2GB of data along with unlimited calls, 100 SMS messages per day and access to proprietary apps for 28 days.
Meanwhile, Airtel has also announced its partnership with HMD Global. Under this tie-up, Airtel will be offering up to Rs 2,000 cashback on purchase of Nokia 2 and Nokia 3 smartphones. The cashback offer will be valid for 36 months and is available for the company's pre-paid customers.
