Reliance Jio New Plans Might Be Cheaper Than Airtel And Vodafone Idea
All operators have announced their revised plans, which are priced up to 42 percent higher than the previous plans. But now, it has been reported that Reliance Jio prices are likely to be 15 to 20 percent cheaper than incumbents operators (Airtel and Vodafone Idea).
Reliance Jio has also announced that it will revise its All-in-one-plans, and they will be priced up to 40 percent higher. Apart from that, the company will offer 300 percent more benefits with these plans. However, Jio has not revealed the details of the plans yet.
"We think the incremental 300 percent benefit which Jio is talking about is by offering more data allowances. In our view that incrementally doesn't entice users much beyond 1.5 GB. Even after these hikes, we believe Jio will continue to be 15-20 Percent cheaper than the incumbent operators," Bank of America Merill Lynch said in a statement. Adding to that, "However, if Jio data allowances are not within 'fair usage policy' control, then we see upside risks to our capex investments."
The firm also expects that only selected plans from Jio will get costlier by 40 percent. Besides, popular plans will get costlier by 25 to 30 percent only. Equity research firm Jefferies said, "The revenue increase of telcos is expected to be 11-23 percent, which is lower than the hikes due to data elasticity resulting in downtrading and SIM consolidation, no increase in postpaid tariffs and lower hike invoice."
Apart from that, shares of Reliance Industries closed on higher note today, as Jio announced to increase the prices of tariffs by December 6th. The share increased by 2.4 percent higher at Rs. 1,587.50 on BSE. On the other hand, Airtel shares soared by 4.17 percent up to Rs. 460.75 on the stock exchange. The revised plans by both Airtel and the Vodafone Idea will come into effect from December 3.
