Apple Watch Pre-Orders Hit Record 1 Million on First Day: What You Need to Know

Although, the Apple Watch received mixed to negative reviews from critics, and as per the research firm Slice Intelligence ( via Quartz), Apple's latest timepiece pre-orders estimated near 1 million. Looks like the Apple Watch's pre-orders continues to hold exceedingly well locally.

According to a new data from research firm Slice Intelligence, it appears that the Apple Watch has been received pretty well. Slice Intelligence said e-receipt data from 9,080 online shoppers indicate 957,000 people in the U.S. pre-ordered the smartwatch on Friday.

Apple Watch buyers pre-ordered an average of 1.3 watches and spent $503.83 per watch, a shopping research firm estimated. Maximum buyers went after the entry-level model, which starts at $349. The data also revealed that most buyers preferred the larger 42 mm watch at 71 % versus the smaller 38 mm version.

Since Slice's data does not include the other eight other markets that the Apple Watch went up for pre-sale, it is really hard to determine how enthusiastic consumers are about the Apple Watch.

How much does it cost?

The entry-level Apple Watch Sport is priced at $349 for the 38mm watch and $399 for the 42mm one. The mid range Apple Watch starts at $549 but goes up to $1,099 depending on the band. Users can choose one of three different leather straps, a stainless steel link bracelet and Milanese loop, or black or white Sport Band. The high-end Apple Watch Edition, which is made from custom rose or yellow 18-karat gold alloys, starts at $10,000.

How do I get it?

Starting April 24, you can buy the Apple Watch from Apple Stores, Apple.com, and specialty stores like Colette in Paris, Dover Street Market in London and Tokyo, Maxfield in Los Angeles, and The Corner in Berlin.

Apple Watch: Can I buy in India?

At present Apple Watch is not available in India. However, the Cupertino-based giant is expected to launch the Apple Watch in India in the first half of 2015. The entry-level model of the Apple Watch could be priced at Rs. 35,000.
