Apple Watch Vs Android Wear: 7 major differences to check out
If you are enticed to know more about the Connected Watch, check out its top 7 features and specifications.
Design and looks:
The TAG Heuer Connected Watch is based on the company's classic Carrera design, which dates back to 1963. It speaks of the company's contemporary style and design language, as it has been designed the same team that makes the rest of TAG's watches. It is 12.8mm thick, measures 46.2mm across, and weighs 52gms.
The Connected Watch is made of titanium which oozes premiumness, and makes it tough. The bezel of the watch has black carbide, anti-fingerprint coating which is in contrast against the body's brushed surface.
Straps and bands:
The Connected Watch is available in seven colors of vulcanized rubber straps, which is paired with matching titanium buckle. You can chose from green, blue, orange, red, white, black, and yellow colour options. However, the company is currently selling only black bracelets for online purchase. All other bracelet color options are made available via store.
Display:
The new smartwatch flaunts a 1.5-inch fully circular scratch-resistant sapphire display which is transflective LTPS LCD. The display offers 360x360 pixels resolution giving way to pixel density of 240ppi, and is touch supportive.
Android Wear goodness:
The watch runs Google's Android Wear operating system, and is compatible with Android smartphone running version 4.3 Jelly Bean and above, and iPhones running iOS 8.2 or later. The Android Wear platform gives users access to available apps at the Google Play store.
Hardware:
The heart of the watch has been powered by Intel's 1.6GHz dual core processor. It has 1GB of RAM and 4GB of onboard storage for apps and other content.
Battery:
The smartwatch is powered by 410mAh battery which as per company claims gives a minimum of 25hours battery life, based on typical usage. This watch can be charged via conductive charging cradle with USB cable and wall plug.
Connectivity options:
In terms of connectivity options, the Tag Heuer Connected Watch uses Bluetooth LE to connect to smartphone, and also supports Wi-Fi connectivity.
Water resistant:
The smartwatch comes with IP67 certificate which makes it splash-proof in case of accidental water splashes.
Additional features and support:
The Connected Watch features Gyroscopic sensors for basic fitness tracking, but lacks GPS. So you will have to rely on your smartphone to track steps, runs, distance and more. Moreover, it lacks a heart rate sensor. What comes as a surprise is that it also lacks a speaker, which means that users will get vibration alerts for notifications.
However, Tag Heuer's Connected Watch comes with additional features like customized watch faces, special timing apps, and other features which are not available on other Android Wear watches.
Price and availability:
The TAG Heuer Connected Watch is a luxury smartwatch that costs a whopping $1,500, which makes it pretty expensive in comparison to most other high-end Android Wear watches. The Connected Watch has been launched in New York City, where it is available at the company's boutique, starting from November 9, and in the U.S. and Canada from November 10 onwards. The company has not announced India specific launch plans but mentioned that its international rollout will come over the next month.
