Google may have shut down and stopped sales of the Google Glass Explorer but the company is not done with it's Google Glass program yet. according to Eric Schmidt, Google's Executive Chairman, who told the "Wall Street Journal" that Google's Nest division will now determine what's next for Google Glass.

Google Glass 2.0 To Be A Completely Redsigned Affair

Despite all the criticism that the glass violates other people's privacy and you can record someone else on the street without their consent. Eric Schmidt says that the technology is simply too important to abandon.

"It is a big and very fundamental platform for Google," Schmidt told the Wall Street Journal. "We ended the Explorer program and the press conflated this into us canceling the whole project, which isn't true. Google is about taking risks and there's nothing about adjusting Glass that suggests we're ending it."

Schmidt went on to compare the project to Google's investment in autonomous cars. He says that it is an initiative that might be a time consuming affair but Google is working on it with utmost commitment.

Google seems to be curating companies very carefully. The next version of "Google Glass 2" has to support very high quality, powerful and efficient software at the same time. This is a different venture planned by Google unlike the Explorer Program which allowed which allowed anyone to make apps for the device.

The arrival of the wearable is yet to be announced by the company, though a handful of them might go out for exhaustive testing. Google's next venture on it's wearable segment just seems to take shape.

The company's blog reads "In the meantime, we're continuing to build for the future, and you'll start to see future versions of Glass when they're ready." which clearly suggests that Google doesn't want to hurry with it's development process. So all of us have to wait for it's arrival.
