Fitbit Ionic fitness smartwatch with 4-day battery life announced
Fitbit Ionic is the company's first fitness smartwatch.
Fitbit has announced its first smartwatch called Ionic priced at $299.95 (approx. Rs. 19,130). This smartwatch is packed with features such as fitness tracking, contact-less payment, etc.
Fitbit is one of the popular wearable device makers that faced a lot of struggle recently in order to compete with the others as there is a fierce competition in the market. It has shifted its focus from fitness bands to feature-rich devices and smartwatches in order to increase its revenue. The recent Fitbit Ionic smartwatch comes with up to 50 meters of water resistance, GPS, heart rate monitoring, multiple clock faces, swim tracking, on-board music, etc.

The major highlight of the Fitbit Ionic is its high capacity battery as the smartwatch is believed to last over 4 days, claims the company. The company seems to have introduced a new premium guidance and coaching paid offering designed in order to analyze the Fitbit data and activity level that is needed to delivery a custom curriculum of programs, workouts, content, etc. customized as per the users' goals.
This Fitbit Coach app is the rebranded Fitstar Personal Trainer app with the popular dynamic video workouts with Audio Coaching sections. This will increase the speed, form and endurance and will be available by the end of this year for Android, iOS and Windows devices. This app will be priced at $7.99 per month and will cost $39.99 per year.
When it comes to specifications, the Fitbit Ionic comes with a 1.42-inch touchscreen LCD display with 348 x 250 pixel resolution. There are connectivity aspects such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS and NFC for payments. The device has GPS tracking to track the users' run with the new Run Detect feature. The Swim tracking feature offers exercise duration, real-time laps and calories burned. There is an integrated antenna for a stronger GPS connection as well.
