So far we believed that Samsung Note 5 would be the only smart device to be unveiled at the next ‘Unpacked Event' on 12th August by the Korean Giant. But we were wrong - as it seems like there would a new guest in the event namely the Samsung Gear A.
Yes it is the same smartwatch codenamed Samsung Orbis. According to a new report in Sammobile, the Gear Orbis will definitely pack a punch and git some stiff competition to the Moto 360 2 smartwatch (to be launched on 28th of July).
Leaks also hint that the watch will have a digital crown in addition to the bezel ring which give users an intuitive interface. So far we know that one can zoom into a image on the display by rotating the bezel ring - similar to the experience of focusing on a object via your DSLR.
So far it looks like Samsung is on the right path! But is it the best smartwatch of 2015? We will keep our views in hold for now and wait for the Moto 360 2 launch on 28th of this month to comment further. But what do you think? Let us know.
Here's a look at some of the leaked specs of Samsung Gear A:
It will feature a 1.56'' (same as the Moto 360 2) SUPER AMOLED display with a resolution of 360x360p.
It will have a dual core Samsung Exynos 3472 with a Mali 400 MP4 GPU clocked at 458MHz. Along with that it will come with a 768MB of RAM, 4GB of onboard storage.
It will have Bluetooth 4.1 to connect with smartphones. Plus Wifi a/b/g/n. Wifi Direct would also be there. Sensors include GPS, Gyroscope, Barometer and a Heart Rate monitor.
The battery is rather small though at 240mAh (considering the fact that Moto 360 2 will come with a 400mah one. Still it is just a tad more powerful that the Apple smartwatch-which itself can last a whole working day)
The watch will run on a Tizen UI built specifically for the smartwatch.
