Third-generation Apple Watch will not support voice calls over LTE
Third-generation Apple Watch may be revealed in September alongside upcoming iPhones and the reports suggest that the device will support eSIM and will not have a physical SIM slot.
Cupertino giant is planning to launch its third-generation Apple Watch and as the speculations run, the next product from the series will have LTE support. This is the first time ever the brand has incorporated the feature in the Apple Watch. However, recent reports suggest that product will not support voice calling.
A KGI Securities analyst has informed investors that since Apple plans to improve data transmission over the smart watch it probably wouldn't introduce the voice call feature on the device this year. Although, the possibility of the Apple Watch supporting VoIP services such as Facetime and Skype has not been ruled out and will most certainly feature on the wearable.
Analysts believe that this will be in favor of Apple since it will simplify negotiations with mobile operators and it will also help Apple in coming up with a feasible design for the product.
It is also being said that the third-generation Apple Watch will feature an eSIM instead of a regular physical SIM slot. The feature will also be limited to few countries. There are already rumors that major US carriers will sell the product given the LTE support offered by it through an eSIM.
The major speculation states that although Apple may be in a dispute with Qualcomm it is highly unlikely that it will use Intel's processors since Qualcomm's processors are more reliable when it comes to power saving.
It is expected that Apple Watch will be launched along with upcoming iPhones in September although there is a division of opinion on the matter.
