Nokia created ripples in the tech world by announcing a nearby phablet handset last month. The Nokia Lumia 625 became company's most affordable large screen phone. Yes, it's an affordable device, as per the Finnish giant, and could hit India retail shelves in September. Interestingly, Nokia Lebanon has managed to grab attention by tweeting a picture of Lumia 625 with dual-SIM facility.
The tweet posted by Nokia Lebanon reads "It's a smartphone, it's Dual Sim and it's golden... Can guess its name?" This makes Lumia 625 the first phone with Windows Phone 8 with dual -SIM. Nokia has dual-SIM phones under its kitty. Remember Symbian powered Asha series?
Few months back, Qualcomm announced new Snapdragon 200 series. As many as 6 new additions were introduced. The main highlight of new series was dual-SIM supported nature. These new chipset also support Windows Phone 8 OS. With these new age chipset, Nokia has finally able to bring dual-SIM facility in the upcoming Lumia range. That said, Nokia Lumia 625 would become the first WP8 handset with dual-SIM nature. Nokia's biggest strength lies in its fantastic hardware, and with additional dual-SIM feature coming soon would be sufficient to sell more Lumia handsets in the emerging markets.
"The expanded line of processors delivers an optimal balance of multimedia features and modem technologies with extended battery life. The processors will have support for dual cameras, with an 8 Megapixel rear-facing camera and up to a 5 Megapixel front-facing one, as well as feature a single platform for all SIM variants, including Dual SIM, Dual Standby, and Dual SIM, Dual Active, and Tri SIM Tri Standby" - Qualcomm issued a press release dated June 19, 2013.
The Lumia 625 has a 4.7-inch WVGA display having resolution of 480 x 800 pixels. It has a curved 2.25D Gorilla Glass 2, which protects the screen from scratches. The internal specifications of the device are not bad either: a 1.2-GHz dual-core processor inside coupled with 512MB of RAM and 8GB of ROM (expanded up to 64GB via microSD card). The phone measures 9.3mm in terms of thickness and weighs 159 grams. The makers have added a 2,000mAh Li Ion battery fitted inside.
Nokia says they have used a new type of polycarbonate plastic to manufacture Lumia 625. There's a 5-mega pixel rear facing camera with LED Flash light and VGA quality front facing camera has been placed on the front panel. The device also features new Smart Camera app. GizBot expect Nokia to price Lumia 625 dual -SIM at around Rs. 15,000. The company is yet to announce a set release date of Nokia Lumia 625 in India.
