Alexa has become the go-to virtual assistant for many across the globe. It might not be the best addition to your daily lives but is surely helpful. Apart from assisting you frequently, the AI assistant is also infamous for being too talkative, and tends to repeat questions back to the user, or saying five words to describe something that could be said in one.

All this is about to change. Alexa might be getting a new mode that will be a tad less disruptive to the user's life. Few users took to Reddit to describe the 'Brief Mode' feature they found on their Alexa-powered devices. The new mode reportedly replaces few of Alexa's spoken responses with simple beeps.

One user on Reddit noted, "I just asked Alexa to turn on my lights, she said ‘OK' just like normal, but after that, she said that this would be the last time she would and that I would hear a beep tone instead on a successful command."

While this isn't a something very meaningful considering the way in which Alexa works, it would make the user-Alexa interactions less verbal and straightforward. There are times when you don't need a verbal confirmation that Alexa has accomplished something.

According to a screengrab released by AFTVnews, users will be able to toggle between on and off for the Brief mode through the settings tab on the Alexa app. Users who choose the Brief mode option will see a message that reads, "In this mode, Alexa speaks less, and for some simple messages plays a short sound instead of a voice response."

Currently, the new feature seems to be in a test phase, if it does gain popularity, Amazon could expand the option for other commands as well.

In February, the company also added a new feature to Alexa that allows a user to create or update their Amazon Music Playlist using their voice commands. Voice commands can be also used to add the current song to an existing playlist. They can also, or create a new playlist with the current song as the first track.

This feature was rolled out in a beta version to Amazon Unlimited music users along with the Prime Music subscribers in the US. There is no information when the company will roll out this feature for the rest of the world. However, some reports from Beebom suggests that since this feature uses Amazon Music, there might be a possibility that Amazon might not make this available for the rest of the world.
