Apple AirPods Pro 3 Expected to Launch Alongside iPhone 17 Series at Tomorrow's 'Awe Dropping' Event

Apple is gearing up for its 'Awe Dropping' event on September 9, where the iPhone 17 series is anticipated to be unveiled. The tech giant might also introduce the AirPods Pro 3 during this event. Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo and other sources suggest that Apple plans to launch the successor to the AirPods Pro 2 this year, with further updates expected later.

The AirPods Pro 3 are predicted to feature several enhancements, including a heart rate monitor. Kuo anticipates their release in the latter half of 2025, as mentioned in an X post. Although no specific date was provided, this aligns with previous rumours. Historically, Apple has launched new AirPods models alongside its latest iPhones.

AirPods Pro 3 Launch Timeline and Features

Reports indicate that the earbuds will debut at Apple's iPhone 17 launch event on Tuesday, September 9. TF Securities International analyst also mentioned another hardware update for the AirPods Pro is expected in 2026. This update may include camera-equipped earbuds for an enhanced spatial audio experience.

The inclusion of cameras in the earphones could capture surroundings and utilise data for AI features. Bloomberg's Mark Gurman suggests this technology might be introduced in 2027 with the fourth generation AirPods Pro. The heart rate monitoring feature from Powerbeats Pro 2 may also be incorporated into the AirPods Pro 3.

Inbuilt Cameras and Health Monitoring Features

The Powerbeats Pro 2 uses LED sensors pulsing over 100 times per second to track blood flow. This data syncs with fitness apps and Apple's Health app during workouts. The upcoming AirPods are expected to come with an improved H3 chip and possibly a hearing test feature.

This hearing test would play sounds to assess hearing ability and advise users to consult a doctor if issues are detected. Additionally, a temperature sensor might be included for real-time health tracking. These advancements highlight Apple's commitment to integrating health-focused features into its products.
