Apple’s 2025 Black Unity Collection: Watch Bands, Watch Faces, and Wallpapers Celebrate Black History Month

Apple has launched its Black Unity Collection for 2025, a tribute to Black History Month that encapsulates the essence of Black culture and community through its innovative designs. This notable collection includes a special-edition Apple Watch Black Unity Sport Loop, along with a unique watch face, and thematic iPhone and iPad wallpapers, all inspired by the "rhythm of humanity."

The Black Unity Sport Loop, a standout piece in the collection, showcases the Pan-African flag's colors—black, green, and red—in a striking pattern. This design features an intricate weave that, depending on the movement of the user's wrist, dynamically transitions between colors, creating a mesmerizing lenticular effect. This effect is further enhanced as the color yellow magically appears during the color transition, adding a vibrant touch to the overall design.

Supporting Global Organizations

In alignment with the launch, Apple is extending its support to various organizations worldwide that focus on rhythm, creativity, and community. This includes significant grants to institutions such as the Ellis Marsalis Center for Music in New Orleans, Battersea Arts Centre in London, Music Forward Foundation in Los Angeles, Art Gallery of New South Wales in Sydney, and The National Museum of African American Music in Nashville, Tennessee.

Design Collaboration and Creativity

The design process for the Black Unity Collection was a collaborative effort involving Black creatives and allies at Apple. Named "Unity Rhythm," the collection's design intricately incorporates the Pan-African flag's colors into the Apple Watch's Black Unity Sport Loop and the matching watch face. The watch face itself is a marvel of design, featuring custom numerals that emerge from abstract brush strokes into clear digits whenever the wearer raises their wrist, thanks to the watch's gyroscope. Additionally, the watch face delights users with unique rhythmic chimes at every hour and half-hour mark.

Pricing, Availability, and Compatibility

For those eager to own a piece of this collection, the Black Unity Sport Loop is now available for order online through the Apple Store and will hit Apple Store locations later this week. Priced at Rs 4,500, the Sport Loop comes in sizes 42mm and 46mm, ensuring compatibility with Apple Watch Series 4 or newer models, including the Apple Watch SE, Apple Watch Ultra, and Apple Watch Ultra 2 (46mm band only).

The Unity Rhythm watch face and iPhone and iPad wallpapers will be available through an upcoming software update. These require specific device models, such as the Apple Watch Series 6 or later for the watch face, and later models of iPhones and iPads for the wallpapers.
