|

Apple has confirmed its in-person World Wide Developer Conference (WWDC) event will take place in June this year. Multiple rumors have suggested the iPhone maker will unveil its eagerly anticipated Mixed Reality (MR) headset, presumably called the Apple Reality Pro.

Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo is confident that Apple will launch its highly-anticipated AR/VR headset at this year's WWDC 2023. He has indicated that Apple is 'well prepared to release' the new product, which will mark Apple's entry into the niche segment.

Apple Reality Pro Headset And Its xrOS Ready For Launch, Claims Kuo

The most anticipated Apple product that may be announced at this year's WWDC could be the Mixed Reality headset. Bloomberg's Mark Gurman had recently hinted that Apple would unveil its MR headset, rumored to be the Reality Pro.

Now analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has expressed confidence about the release of the eagerly-awaited and long-overdue headset that will offer AR (Augmented Reality) and VR (Virtual Reality) content.

Apple has been silent about the Reality Pro AR/VR headset. However, news about the device has been leaking steadily. Kuo claims the entire VR industry will be shaken up and revitalized with the launch of the Apple Reality Pro.

It goes without saying that some of the biggest beneficiaries of the headset's release will be Apple's supply chain partners. The more expensive components of Apple's AR/VR headset are the assembly, which is a Luxshare exclusive. The micro OLED display is exclusive to Sony.

Apple has relied on TSMC for the dual-purpose processor. Rumors suggest the chassis is supplied by Everwin Precision. The biggest beneficiary would be Cowell Electronics, supplying 12 camera modules for each Apple AR/VR headset. Kuo notes that Cowell Electronics will benefit most as the company has fewest other clients.

Apple's headset would have a sleek but external power supply, which is being supplied by Goertek. The exact rating of the power supply isn't known yet. Moreover, Apple's first AR/VR product might not have a large battery for wireless operation.

Apple Reality Pro AR/VR Headset To Be A Game Changer?

There are several players in the AR/VR industry. From Microsoft to Lenovo, and from Sony to Xiaomi, multiple tech giants have offered AR/VR headsets. Each of these products has its own strengths.

But it goes without saying that Apple's first AR/VR headset holds the potential to shake up the industry and the product category. Kuo is skeptical about the huge success of Apple's first AR/VR device. However, he is confident that Apple could make the product one of the hottest investment trends in consumer electronics.

Apple iPhone sales have been soaring in recent times. However, its other hardware products such as Macs and iPads aren't doing well. Hence, the Apple Reality Pro Mixed Reality headset, powered by a new xrOS operating system, might be an important bet for the company.
