boAt Airdopes ProClip Launched: Open-Ear Earbuds That Finally Address Audio Leakage
boAt has launched the Airdopes ProClip in India, an open-ear earbud priced at Rs 1,599. It's available now on boAt's website, Amazon, and Flipkart in white, grey, and wine colour options.

What Are Open-Ear Earbuds
Open-ear earbuds don't go inside your ear canal. Instead, they sit on the outer ear, usually held in place by a clip or hook that wraps around the ear. The main draw is comfort during long sessions since there's nothing actually inserted into your ear. You also stay more aware of your surroundings, which matters if you're commuting, running outdoors, or working in an office where you need to hear what's happening around you.
The trade-off has always been audio leakage. Because the driver isn't sealed inside your ear, sound escapes outward, which can be annoying for people around you in quiet or crowded spaces. Most open-ear earbuds in the market sidestep this problem only partially.
What boAt Is Doing Differently
The Airdopes ProClip uses a clip-on loop design that holds the earbud against the outer ear without going in. boAt calls this a Cloud Fit design, and the idea is to keep it secure during movement without the pressure that in-ear buds create over time.
The feature boAt is leading with is Sonic Seal technology, which is aimed at reducing audio leakage. It's a genuine concern with open-ear designs, especially in public spaces where sound bleed can be noticeable. How well it actually works in practice is something that'll need hands-on testing to confirm, but it's the right problem to be solving.
Ambient Sound Awareness is also part of the package, letting you hear traffic, voices, and general surroundings while still listening to audio. That's standard for most open-ear earbuds, but useful to have confirmed here.
Who It's For
Open-ear earbuds tend to work well for people who spend long hours with earbuds in but don't want the fatigue that comes with in-ear designs. Commuters, people on long calls, anyone who works out regularly, or office workers who need to stay alert to their environment are the most obvious use cases.
At Rs 1,599, the Airdopes ProClip is priced well below most open-ear options currently available in India, where the category is dominated by products from Shokz and similar brands that typically start north of Rs 5,000.
