Bose wants to build earbuds that can cool themselves
Bose wants to relieve users from discomfort while workouts.
Bose seems to be focusing on producing sports earbuds that will help users be comfortable during workouts. A new patent application filed by the company indicates towards a point that uses an elastomer or a rubber filled with one or more "phase change materials" that will convert from solid to liquid, and then back to solid once the temperature turns to normal.
The earbuds are built using new materials that could essentially change their temperature based on how hot the wearer is to help them keep cool. Bose also states in the application that their aim is to reduce discomfort caused due to heat and pressure. The image shows something close to the silicon rubber tips used on many of Bose's in-ears.
The only difference here is that these earbuds will be filled with the "phase change materials" which is probably some kind of gel. Well, we can only wait and watch whether the patent makes it to the production stage or not.
Earlier, the company introduced the SoundLink Micro Bluetooth speaker, its small and portable speaker.
Measuring at 9.5cms wide and deep, 3.8cms high, and weighing 290 grams, the Micro is a tiny speaker. With loud sound output for its size, and tested IPX7 waterproof rating, the Bose Micro Bluetooth speakers let you enjoy music, receive and make calls, and access Siri Google Assistant.
The Bose Micro is packed with a new custom transducer, miniature dual-passive radiators, and a rechargeable lithium-ion battery. Micro delivers up to 6 hours of loud- and low bass - from a size that fits entirely in the palm of your hand.
The Micro is tough. It will survive summer's extreme heat, winter's bitter cold, and more than the industry's IPX7 rating claims the company. Waterproof from the inside out, it was tested to withstand soapy water, chlorinated water, and salt water. Be it the rain or snow even being dropped in the sink, pool, or ocean, the Micro will keep playing. Its soft silicone exterior protects it from scratches, dents, cracks, dirt, and sand. And a durable strap on its flip-side attaches easily to bags, backpacks, bikes, coolers, and other gears.
