Nothing Could Be Working On AI Smart Glasses, Launch Tipped For 2027

Nothing might be getting ready to step into a new category, and this time it’s not phones or earbuds.

Nothing Could Be Working On AI Smart Glasses, Launch Tipped For 2027

According to a Bloomberg report, the company is said to be working on its first pair of smart glasses, with a possible launch window sometime in the first half of 2027. It’s still early, but the direction seems pretty clear. This won’t be another bulky mixed reality headset. The focus looks more practical.

A More Everyday Approach To Smart Glasses

From what’s been reported, Nothing isn’t trying to build something heavy or overly complex. The idea is closer to regular glasses that you can wear daily, with AI features layered in.

To make that work, the device is expected to offload most of its processing to a connected phone or the cloud. That keeps the hardware lighter, but also means you’ll likely need your phone nearby for most features.

If that sounds familiar, it’s because we’ve already seen a similar approach with Meta’s Ray-Ban smart glasses.

What These Glasses Might Actually Do

The reported hardware setup includes cameras, microphones, and speakers. That gives a rough idea of what the experience could look like.

You could use them to capture photos or short clips, record audio, or listen to playback. There’s no mention of a display so far, which suggests this is more about adding small, useful features rather than replacing your phone.

Part Of A Bigger Plan

Nothing has been gradually building out its product lineup over the past few years. It started with audio, moved into smartphones, and has been hinting at doing more.

Carl Pei has already talked about expanding into other categories, including AI-focused hardware. Smart glasses would fit into that pretty naturally.

At the same time, the timing also lines up with what other companies are doing. Meta already has its glasses in the market, and Google and Samsung are working on similar ideas under Android XR.

What Will Actually Matter

Right now, this is more about direction than final details.

If Nothing does go ahead with this, the real test won’t just be the hardware. Things like how reliable the connection is, how fast the AI responds, and how long the battery lasts will matter just as much.

There’s also the usual question around privacy, especially when cameras and microphones are involved in something you wear all day.

Still Early, But Interesting

There’s no official confirmation yet, and timelines can always shift. But this does feel like a logical next step for Nothing as it tries to expand beyond its current lineup.

And if it happens, it’ll be interesting to see how the company brings its design approach into something like smart glasses.
