Samsung and Google Reveal New AI Smart Glasses at Google I/O 2026
Samsung and Google have officially given the first look at their new intelligent eyewear during Google I/O 2026. The companies are partnering with eyewear brands Gentle Monster and Warby Parker for the new AI-powered glasses, which are designed to work as companion devices alongside smartphones.

The idea here seems pretty clear. Instead of making bulky futuristic-looking smart glasses, Samsung and Google are trying to build something that looks and feels more like regular eyewear people would actually wear every day.
Built Around Gemini and Hands-Free AI Features
The intelligent eyewear is powered by Google’s Gemini AI and focuses heavily on voice-based interaction.
Users can ask Gemini for directions, nearby recommendations, summaries of notifications, calendar actions, and other everyday tasks without needing to pull out their phones.
Samsung says the glasses are designed to keep users “hands-free and heads-up,” which basically means the experience is meant to feel more natural while walking, travelling, or multitasking.
One example Samsung shared is asking Gemini to suggest a coffee shop along a walking route and even placing an order for pickup directly through voice commands.
Real-Time Translation Is One of the Bigger Features
The glasses also include live translation features.
According to Samsung and Google, users can hear translated audio that matches the original speaker’s voice while also translating text from menus, signs, and other objects directly in their field of view.
That sounds like one of the more practical use cases here, especially for travel and navigation.
The device can also summarize important messages, add events to calendars, and capture photos while connected to the Galaxy ecosystem.
Two Different Design Styles Are Coming
Samsung says the first intelligent eyewear collection will launch in partnership with Gentle Monster and Warby Parker.
Both brands are taking different approaches to the design language.

Gentle Monster’s version focuses on bold and fashion-forward styling, while Warby Parker is going with a more classic and minimal look.
From the images shown at Google I/O 2026, Samsung appears to be prioritizing lightweight, everyday wearable designs instead of making the tech visually obvious.
Samsung Is Positioning This as a New AI Form Factor
Samsung says the glasses are part of its larger vision for AI-powered devices beyond smartphones.
The company describes intelligent eyewear as a new AI form factor that works within the Galaxy ecosystem while offering more natural interactions through voice, contextual awareness, and real-time assistance.
Google is also framing the partnership as a way to make AI feel more accessible and less screen-dependent in daily life.
Launch Timeline
Samsung says the first intelligent eyewear collections are scheduled to launch this fall in select markets. More details, including pricing, specifications, and availability, are expected to be announced in the coming months.
