Sony WF1000XM5 Earbuds’ Design Leaked via FCC Filing
When it comes to truly wireless stereo (TWS) earbuds, Sony's WF1000XM4 are among the best on the market, thanks to their industry-leading noise-canceling technology.
Sony WF1000XM5's Design Leaked
Now, it seems that Sony is getting ready to release the follow-up to the immensely popular earbuds, as the design of the upcoming WF1000XM5 has surfaced via an FCC filing.

A new report by The Walkman Blog revealed the design of the upcoming premium TWS earbuds.
A series of photos show that the earbuds will be more rounded than the WF1000XM4 earbuds, which have a flat underside. According to the report, the upcoming buds are more compact than their predecessor.
The charging case also appears to be more rounded than the case of the WF1000XM4. There is also a two-pin charging connector rather than the three-pin one on the predecessor.

According to the teardown images, the WF1000XM5 will support Qi wireless charging. When it comes to wired charging, the XM5's charging case has a 5V = 230mA specification, whereas the XM4's case has a 5V = 140mA specification. This suggests that the earbuds will support faster charging.

The images also show the earbuds' internals, but the battery capacity is currently unknown.
There is no information on the feature set of these earbuds, nor is there any information on the driver size.
However, based on the XM4's features, the XM5 is expected to include Active Noise Cancelation (ANC), Transparency Mode, LDAC support, and multipoint connectivity.
