Western Digital Unveils 6TB Portable HDDs In India With Advanced Security Features

Western Digital has expanded its WD, WD Black, and SanDisk product lines in India. The California-based company has introduced the WD My Passport portable hard disk drives (HDDs) and SanDisk G-Drive ArmorATD in 6TB capacities.

These are claimed to be the first 2.5-inch portable HDDs globally available in a 6TB capacity. The WD My Passport series includes password protection with 256-bit AES hardware encryption, while the SanDisk G-Drive ArmorATD features an IP54-rated dust and water-resistant build.

Western Digital Storage Solutions: Pricing and Availability

The 6TB WD My Passport is priced at Rs. 15,499 in India. The version with USB Type-C connectivity costs Rs. 15,999. Additionally, the WD Elements 6TB is available for Rs. 15,299. All three products can be purchased through Western Digital retailers and the Western Digital Store.

The 6TB SanDisk G-Drive ArmorATD is set at Rs. 20,999 and will be available by the end of July through select Western Digital retailers and the Western Digital Store.

Specifications of New Western Digital Products

The new offerings aim to provide robust storage solutions tailored to user needs. The WD My Passport lineup offers USB 3.2 Gen 1 and USB 2.0 interfaces, while the USB Type-C model also supports USB 3.2 Gen 1 interface. Both models come with a three-year limited warranty and feature built-in software for added security with password protection and 256-bit AES encryption.

The My Passport Ultra features USB Type-C technology and a metal design with the same level of encryption as other models in the series. It boasts a slim profile for easy portability. The SanDisk G-Drive ArmorATD has a rugged design that includes crush resistance up to 1000lbs and an IP54 rating for rain and dust resistance.

It is advertised as the world's first portable hard drive with a 2.5-inch form factor offering a capacity of 6TB. All new models support devices running macOS 11+ and Windows 10 or later versions, ensuring broad compatibility across different operating systems.
