Google Pixel 8, Pixel 8 Pro display specifications revealed: Big improvements coming

Google is set to launch its flagship Pixel 8 series sometime in October. However, ahead of its launch, new details have emerged about the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro's display specifications.

The news comes around a week after the camera specifications of the Pixel 8 series were leaked. The leak comes from an inside source at Google via Android Authority.

Google Pixel 8 Display Specifications

According to the report, both smartphones in the Pixel 8 series will feature flat edges, so no more curved displays. The Google Pixel 8 will sport a 6.17-inch OLED display with an FHD+ (1080 x 2400 pixels) resolution and a peak brightness of 1,400 nits.

The panel on the Pixel 8 will also feature a 120Hz refresh rate as compared to 90Hz on the Pixel 7. The screen will be able to scale between 10Hz, 30Hz, 60Hz, and 120Hz. Moreover, the screen on the Pixel 7 will also sport a pixel density of 427 PPI.

Google Pixel 8 Pro Display Specifications

The Pixel 8 Pro, on the other hand, will sport a 6.7-inch OLED display with a QHD+ resolution (1440 x 3120 pixels) and a peak brightness of 1,600 nits and a pixel density of 490 PPI. Like the vanilla Pixel 8 mode, the 'Pro' variant will also get a flat display as opposed to the curved screen on the Pixel 7 Pro.

Moreover, the Google Pixel 8 Pro will also sport a 120Hz refresh rate that can be scaled between 5 Hz, 10 Hz, 30 Hz, and 60-120Hz. Both the Google Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro will offer HDR support.

The report also notes that the Google Pixel 8 will use an OLED panel by BOE, while the Pixel 8 Pro will opt for a Samsung OLED display. The Google Pixel 8 series will use a new Tensor G3 chipset, while the two devices will run on Android 14 out of the box. Last week, we also learned about camera upgrades on the Pixel 8 series.
