Apple’s iOS 26.1 Beta Lets You Customise the Liquid Glass Look with New Tinted Option

Apple has introduced a new feature for iPhone users to modify the Liquid Glass effect in iOS 26. The latest iOS 26.1 beta allows users to select between a clear or tinted effect, enhancing user control over the interface's appearance.

Liquid Glass in iOS 26 marks a significant shift in Apple's user interface design, moving away from the minimalist 2D style to one that emphasizes reflections and fluidity. This change aims to provide a more engaging experience for iPhone users. However, opinions on Liquid Glass have been mixed, prompting Apple to offer more customization options.

Apple Will Let You Tone Down The Transparency of Liquid Glass

iOS 26.1 Beta New Features

According to MacRumors, Apple has responded to user feedback by introducing a new option for Liquid Glass in the iOS 26.1 beta. Users can now choose to maintain the clear effect from iOS 26 or switch to a tinted theme. The tinted option reduces UI transparency, especially in controls, enhancing visibility and contrast.

To try the new tinted theme, users must first install the latest iOS 26.1 beta on their iPhones. They can then navigate to the Settings app, select Display and Brightness, and find the Liquid Glass section. This menu provides options for clear or tinted themes, along with a preview to help users see the differences.

Additional Changes in iOS 26.1 Beta

Besides the Liquid Glass update, Apple has made other notable changes in the iOS 26.1 beta. Users can now disable direct camera access from the lockscreen, reducing accidental clicks. Furthermore, Apple Intelligence support has expanded to include languages like Danish, Dutch, Norwegian, Portuguese (Portugal), Swedish, Turkish, Chinese (Traditional), and Vietnamese.

Moreover, the Live Translation feature for AirPods now supports Japanese, Korean, Italian, and both Mandarin Traditional and Simplified Chinese. These updates aim to enhance user experience by broadening language support and improving functionality.

In the full release of iOS 26, users could already adjust transparency and contrast settings for Liquid Glass. The new theme option further empowers users to personalize their UI experience. However, there is no confirmed date for the full release of iOS 26.1. Apple is likely to continue refining features before a broader rollout.
