Apple's IOS 18.1 Beta Debuts Clean Up Tool In Photos App For Enhanced Editing
Apple has introduced a new Clean Up feature in the Photos app with the release of iOS 18.1 beta 3 for developers. This feature, highlighted at WWDC, helps users remove distracting objects from their photos.
The Clean Up tool is accessible while editing photos and is represented by an eraser icon in the toolbar. It employs advanced machine learning models to detect and eliminate unwanted elements, including shadows and reflections.

Smart Detection Capabilities
This feature can distinguish between people and objects, ensuring that parts of individuals are not mistakenly removed. Users can also manually zoom in and use their finger as a retouch brush to fine-tune the removal process.
The Clean Up function works on any image within the Photos library, not just those taken with an iPhone. When first used, iOS 18.1 will download and prepare the necessary models for this feature.
Availability Across Devices
In addition to iOS 18.1 beta 3, the Clean Up feature is also available in the latest betas of iPadOS 18.1 and macOS Sequoia 15.1. This ensures a consistent experience across Apple devices.
iOS 18.1 beta 3 also enhances Apple Intelligence-powered notification summaries beyond just Messages and Mail. This expansion aims to provide users with more comprehensive notification management.
