Breakout Books: Apple iBookstore Gets New Section to Promote Indie Authors

    Apple has launched a new section in the company's iBookstore which is called the Breakout Books' featuring the works that have been published by indie authors on iBookstore. Breakout Books section currently features a curated list of titles, each of which has earned four and five star reviews. This means that not all works of indie authors in iBookstore can be seen in this section.

    Apple has promoted indie authors even before but this kind of limelight shed on them by the company is for the very first time. There are three genres available in the section- romance, mysteries and thrillers and sci-fi and fantasy. There is a fourth category also that says ‘more to explore'. This category includes books which are a mixture of the different categories.

    Readers can see that the books featured in the section are inexpensive while many are available free of charge. This means readers can buy a lot of books from the section without having to spend a lot of cash. The landing page of Breakout Books section is comparatively bland and does not feature any recommended content. Apple states that the company will fill out the page once it has taken off.

    The ebook craze has set off a new trend in digital publishing Indie authors can display their works online without having to spend a lot on print publishing. Just like games, music and apps, budding authors across the globe are utilizing technology to publish their works online. Breakout Books section of iBookstore is sure to be an incentive to many authors out there to come out with promising works.
